Weather - why is hotter always better?

There's a limit, though; we had some days when it broke 100° F (38° C) when I was camping by a river, and though the plunge when jumping off a cliff was indeed exquisite, by the time I climbed back to the top of the cliff I was sweating miserably -- and trying to sleep when the night's low was still in the 80s was futile.

On weekdays, though, 80° F (27° C) is the upper limit when I have to be about town.

It's currently about 29° C here right now.. or 85° F. I'm just thankful I have this and next week off. I'm dreading going back to work, but hopefully the heat will have passed by then.

given the choice, I'd rather be sweaty and gross in the heat than have to shovel out mountains of snow and drive on unsafe ice-covered roads in the cold.

Where I live in Canada the temperature reaches the high 20's for a couple of weeks in the summer and it is spread out only a few days at a time, so no one really bothers with air conditioning. There are only a few days where I miss it, but then the guest bedroom in the basement comes in handy. It's 27 right now. It was 33 yesterday. That's pointlessly ridiculously hot.

I did not know you would get those temperatures in Oslo because the ocean is right there to moderate it, but then that would explain why the humidity is so bad.
 
Maybe the weatherman man thinks that everyone likes to go outside and do stuff likes swimming, camping, barbeque etc.
Doesn't he realize that there are bees and wasps and flies out there during those hot summer days?
 
I like it hot. 84 and humid is fine with me. I have air conditioning but seldom use it.

Weather forecast says 31 degrees for tomorrow. That's 88 degrees for you Americans. I live in Norway ffs.. not supposed to be this hot here, fucking crazy. And right now it's thundering. This weather is fucking nuts, I swear. I'm sitting here sweating like crazy.

I believe you. I can tell the heat has affected your brain, because you seem to think that I'm an American and that I have even a vague idea of what the temperature is in Fahrenheit. :p
 
Also i don't know why sunny is always considered "good".
I think abit of rain can be nice as well.
 
It's better than being cold... and if you have air conditioning, you at least have a place to escape the heat. If not, there's nowhere to go, and summer is just horrible.
 
I've known people like that. The hotter, the better. I told one of these guys "I think you're trying to find your way to Hell, even before you die." LOL. (It was one of those days that The Civic Center in L. A. was going for the record of 108 or something, and he was just absolutely rejoicing how marvelous and wonderful that was.)

One can dress to adapt to the cold much more than to the heat. If 20C/68F is considered the "ideal" temperature for humans, every winter there are always people who need to be outside for extended periods of time, and they may be uncomfortable but generally get along perfectly well if it''s -10C/14F...but nobody is going to do very well if they're in 50C/122F for the same number of hours. People can dress for the cold with heavy outer clothing. But you can't legally (with rare exceptions) peel off all the clothing you'd ordinarily wear in comfortable weather, so that method of adapting isn't available in hot weather.

Considering how I'm dressed at the time, would I rather have it be 15C (about 28F) too HOT, or the same too COLD? It depends entirely how long I'm in the uncomfortable weather.

If I'm in the miserable weather for just a couple of minutes, the cold weather is gonna be absolutely AWFUL. I'll be able to deal fine with the too-hot weather.

Make it more than ten minutes, though, and I'll be MUCH BETTER in the too-cold weather. I can be in too-cold weather for hours if I have to be (where I'm dressed for freezing, and it's 4F outside), but I'm not going to do very well if I'm in 99 or 101 degree (F) weather for three hours.

And I'm comparing 65 to 70 degrees below "ordinary/comfortable", to ONLY about 30 degrees too hot.
