I'm not exactly sure where this post is going, so bear with me.
Two years ago my boyfriend proposed to me, during a romantic trip to Italy where his sister got married to her lesbian partner. We had been together 28 years at that point, so we planned our wedding ceremony to co-incide(somewhat) with our 30th anniversary as a couple. The day is creeping up--our wedding date is Nov.24th, and i am kind of freaking out. We have the basics covered, a place for the ceremony and reception, but all the other details are crazy-making. Today we dealt with invitations. Also dealing with caterer, decorations,etc.. Not to mention we still have to write our vows! What have we gotten ourselves into?! I know that I am complaining too much . \One of the reasons (among many) that we are doing this is that we truly believe in equal marriage rights for all. And I guess heterosexuals, too, go crazy when they are making wedding plans! ..|](*,)(!)

You're getting married at last, you're planning the social event of your lives...and you're freaking out? Get a grip, man - you're giving us queers a bad name! :D

Seriously, though. Just take it a step at a time. With the date fast approaching, don't over-agonize over details. The most important thing is YOU and HIM exchanging vows. Everything else is secondary. A nice ceremony featuring a wonderful couple can be catered by KFC and still be magical. And from what little I know, this event WILL be magical. ..|

I don't know why guys want to go through the parody of straight weddings.

Fuck the details. Enjoy the day. the more people fuss over it, the more annoying it is for all the poor guests who have to sit through the stress.

.......and please make your vows something that won't make your guests cringe now and you cringe later. You've been together 30 years. That is testament enough to the endurance of love.

...and don't be groomzillas.

Congratulations! My straight cousin got so wedding crazy 7 years ago that she broke up our close family! We never recovered.Don't let it get to crazy.

Thanks for all the good advice, everyone!!

I know everything will fall into place and a good time will be had by all.

I will be nervous until after we exchange vows, but after that I think I will be able to relax and enjoy the party.

Well, I cannot say much in the area of planning such an event, since I am not experienced in that regard.

But I do want to take this moment and extend my heartfelt congratulations to you and your partner, you deserve to have this day, and all that it represents! ((*8*)

More importantly, November 24th is the eve of my birthday. Just kidding, haha. Congratulations! I'm sure all the preparations will be well worth it when you see the final product of your wedding. Just remember to not lose sight of the whole reason why you're having the ceremony within all the preparation and planning.
