Weed...Pot...whatever!!!

Ive heard From Many Doctors, That Marijuana Is Very Healthy For You, It Does A lot For Your body, Lowers Your blood Pressure, Its An Excellent Pain Killer....

Indeed, a friend's mother smokes it to relieve her arthritis. And that mother is just an ordinary suburban middle class woman.

I was born and bred in a country known for its "Coffee shops" (Where you'll see quite a few eyebrows raised if you step up to the counter and order a coffee!), actually there's one right across the canal from me.
But I have néver ever, in all my 49 years, had a joint, or even considered having one. The smell of it alóne is enough to make me puke!

Fantástic to hear you've declined their offer. That I'm sure was a "difficult" decision to make, what with all the peer pressure at such a young age, but you made the right decision because you thought of yourself, nót of how others would see you (or you'd think they'd see you) . ..|

it's just my opinion, but inhaling any type of smoke will not be good for the lungs.

Ciggarette Smoke Has Tar, Amonia, And All This Other Chemical Junk! Weed is
Au Natural! Its Actually Good For You! The Tar In Ciggarettes Makes The Smoke Stick To the Insides of Your Lungs, When You Inhale Marijuana, You Just Expell it Righ Back Out, nothing in weed to make it stick to the insides of your lungs!

I dated a weed smoker for 7 months. Best ride of my life.

As long as he respects that you don't smoke, and that you respect that he does(one of the worse things a guy can do is see that you smoke, say they have no problem with it, and then once the relationship gets serious, try to manipulate them to stop), then go for it! ..|

Weed smokers are usually more mellow. Usually.

I am so thinking like what you're thinking. I think it would be too manipulative to do just that too. I wouldn't say I wouldn't try if it did serious, and if it did go for a long time. Then again, I guess as long as it's not like hardcore, it shouldn't be too bad besides, I drink and sometimes I drink quite a bit so it's not like I'm perfect!

Mellow? Well, this guys that I know sure is. ;) Very easygoing, happy, down to earth, relaxed he is.....all the time.....not only after a joint!

Weed is far less harmful, physically, than tobacco or alcohol. All are substances that I discovered in college (among some other things which I didn't touch). Talk about an education!

Depending on how buzzed you get, the effect is a mild sense of euphoria, with a slight "disassociation" from reality. It increases your desire to eat something, not necessarily because you're hungry, but because of the "enhanced" sensation of taste/touch/texture. All around you seems more vivid, eventhough you are not so involved with it. It also heightens relaxation, and enough can put you to sleep. It definitely lowers inhibitions. It is not the same buzz as getting drunk.

Weed can be phychologically addictive. But it is much less physically addictive than tobacco or alcohol.

I smoked weed from the end of the '60's to about the mid '80's. And, no, that was not constantly! I did not, ever, have any urges to "move up" to harder stuff. Eventually, I just lost any further interest in it, and haven't touched it since. I don't think it had any negative effects on me. It did make for some interesting, good, times, though!

Tobacco, and alcohol, however, have been different stories! I still smoke cigs, and drink. (That's about 1 1/2 packs a day, and a 5th of brandy every 10-12 days.) By this time, I've felt the physical effects of both. The smoke as been the worse!

Weed is illegal, today, still, mainly because of the political "touch stone" it became in the '50's. Everyone's kids were going to Hell because of the "Beatniks", and, later, the "Hippies"! The "Puritans" needed something to go after since prohibition was such a bust. I mean ... gotta blame all the "bad stuff" on "Something"! What they don't seem to realize (or learned from prohibition), is that if there is something you want to control, the best way to do that is to legalize it!

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)

I like drugs. :luv2:

I'll happily smoke, snort, pop, or drink (almost) anything. :D

It helps to dull the pain of existential despair.

But I never inject. [-X

I have to respectfully disagree with you up to a point. While pot, if smoked in moderation, does not have as immediate visible harmful effects as alcohol or tobacco, the long-term effects are much more damaging, depending on the quantity a person smokes. The two long-term effects of pot smoking are:
  1. loss of short-term memory
  2. paranoia
I'm not reading this out of a clinician's manual -- I'm speaking from personal experience, as well as having interacted with literally hundreds of pot smokers and former pot smokers.

Additionally, long-term use can lead to irreparable damage to the lungs, because today's commercial pot is much more potent than strains from years gone by. Lung cancers and emphysema are far more common among pot smokers than people think.

I Never Realized Until I Smoked Pot What An Amazing Subculture There Is In The U.S. (if not world) Around The Use Of Drugs. From Movies To Music To Sex - It All Seems To Surround & Blossom From The Use Of It.

I Don't Use It Much Anymore Since I Have Other Distractions - But I'll Never Forget The Man Who Gave Me My First Joint Or His Words After I Smoked It. "Now You Are One Of Us." :D

You Will Find If You Hang With Those That Smoke It - And You Don't - You Eventually Won't Have Much In Common With Them. After All There Is Truth To The Notion That "Birds Of A Feather Flock Together." If You Don't Want Any Part Of It - It Might Be A Good Idea To Find New Guys With Which To Hang.

I have never been so close to dudes using drugs until I arrived in the USA, as a matter of fact, until this past weekend.

Of course, unless you count walking by those 'coffee shops' in Amsterdam whilst on holiday and having classmates at school whom I know are drug-users of some kind.

I was thinking more along the lines that if I could resist (just as I have done with tonnes of my closest friends who are tobacco smokers), I might be just alright with this new bunch of friends. I'm thinking they are not hardcore users so.... Well, I hope I'm right and now just 'comforting' myself! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, that I won't be ostracized simply because I don't smoke!

i gotta smoke on the balcony
even when it minus 30

the neighbours are twats they complain about the smell

shit it's only weed

do i complain about how much rye they drink????????????
and it is too much

I smoked weed when I was in college, and we would almost never go to a movie without smoking a joint. Once we went to a cineplex with 4 or 6 theaters and went into the wrong theater. We sat through almost 15 minutes of the wrong movie, thinking it was a preview before we finally asked someone what movie we were watching. When we left to go to the right theater, the usher was reluctant to let us in, but we had the correct stubs. He asked us why we had been in the wrong theater so long, and we explained that we thought we were watching a preview. He accepted that explanation, and I've seen that happen here as well, even when I went to see The Silver Surfer. A woman sitting next to me asked me if the movie was (and then she said a different title), and I told her "No." And she was not even stoned.

I think marijuana has valid medicinal uses and should be legalized for such use. They've decriminalized it here in California and other states, such as Oregon, which was one of the first.

Weed can make a supposedly serious grade B movie into a watchable comedy, but this is best done at home. If you are worried about the effects to your lungs, you can bake some Alice B. Toklas brownies. If you want to abstain, that's fine too, and I would not avoid someone else for that reason.

When I lived in the states I had friends that were pot-heads... I couldn't stand being around them because for them it wasn't occasional use it was constant... They had no ambition, never wanted to do anything except smoke and play warcraft, and they had problems relating to reality...

I personally can't stand the stuff.. it makes me nauseous and listless.... I would rather be doing something than become what I saw them become...

Blowing half a paycheque just to keep their addiction steady... and never having any motivation to do anything..ever....

I have never been against drugs... I think there's a time and place for everything as long as it doesn't become an addiction... and smoking everyday...usually more than once a day.... is an addiction...

Thank goodness the bunch that I know still have some ambition and still have much to share and talk besides their weed. We talked about work, we talked about school, we talked dreams.....

I guess I really do need to know how often the do that stuff......

I'm not sure if I'm lame or something but I've heard most teen guys have done drugs especially weed at one point or another. I am 24 and have not touched such things ever before and don't intend to. I don't even smoke cigarettes although many of my friends do and I'm totally cool with them smoking in the same room as I am in.

Now I am in need some opinions from you guys on weed. See, up until this weekend, I did not even know what weed really was or how it looked like. I hung out with a bunch of real nice guys and they were all weed-smokers. I would hate to think they are addicted or anything but they do it occasionally - like 1 or 2 joints or puffs during the weekend.

Is it harmful or what? Am I in "danger" (LOL) hanging out with them? They offered me but I declined..... They don't judge (I don't think anyway) so I'm not judging them neither. I guess I'm here to see what you guys have to say about weed because I sure am clueless about it. Whatever you have to offer, that would be greatly appreciated.

Weed isn't cool. Not one bit. I wouldn't even bother with it. And sorry to tell you, but the most you can get out of friends who are pot heads is trouble. I'd stay away if I were you. Yeah, it's rare that you get picked up for a joint or two, but why even chance it??

Weed is stupid!! Sorry If I'm putting down your friends, but it's very true. Been there and done that. Don't regret it, but am also not proud of it either...

^pfft

keeps my pain away
and i have chronic pain

don't judge
it should be legal

RL ...

You are absolutely right! I do not disagree with you one bit.

Perhaps I should have been more thorough in my wording. I did not say that Weed does not have any harmful effects. Long term, heavy, usage of nearly Anything (salt, coffee, sugar, etc.) will have negative consequences. And, I am not trying to demean your points by using common substances as examples. Weed will have more adverse effects than my examples. It's just that Anything, overdone, is not good for you.

What I was trying to say is that Weed is LESS harmful (physiologically) than cigs or alcohol. Excessive use of either of those will kill you (or someone else) much faster than Pot. And, Anything, other than Clean Air, inhaled into your lungs is not a completely healthy idea.

"Mary Jane" is not as physically addictive as cigs or alcohol. It can be walked away from without any dire Withdrawal symptoms. But, as you said, it does have more of a psychological component.

All can effect short term memory. Pot being the most immediately noticable. But, the long term effects of alcohol abuse, and even tobacco consumption, on the brain, are more permanent, and deadlier.

Weed does "win" in the paranoia dept., though alcohol can have similar results. Pot does have more of a psychological influence than cigs or booze.

I guess what I'm trying to say is ... ANYTHING used beyond, and above, "Moderation" is going to "Get" You, one way, or another! And there are things "out there" that are worse than others. But, that doesn't mean the "less harmful" ones are "good" for you, either!

We all have our own choices to make. And, are responsible for making the choices that we do!

Confused boy:
If you are inclined to abstain, do so. If you are inclined to experiment, keep it at that level. What my emphasis to you is this: If you are trying to establish yourself, marijuana is notoriously bad for that. In other words, if you are career-building, etc., concentrate on that. Your indulging friends will be glad for a sober one in their midst.

I've been smoking weed for a long time.

If you look up on the facts, it is healthier than smoking cigs and getting drunk.

I was reading some about some scientific studies. The mice had lung cancer from tobacco and then they made the mice smoke grass instead, it slowed down the progression of the tobacco lung cancer.

It makes since, because I've never seen any of the old hippies die from lung cancer yet.

Not saying smoking is healthy. It is not. Your lungs are not the chimney you claim them to be.

But, weed is a lot more natural and a healthier option than getting physically addicted to cigs.

In other words, if you are career-building, etc., concentrate on that. Your indulging friends will be glad for a sober one in their midst.

YES, I am building a career and I really hope that what you have said will indeed be the outcome. I would love to be the "sober one in their midst". I just hope that I wouldn't lose them as friends......

I guess it's been a very different weekend that I have been used to since I got to the USA. I am far away from all my close friends, and with them, I just felt that I was accepted, if only somewhat. I guess I'm just lonely.......

As for your Pot smokin' "Buds" (a "little" pun intended, there), be Yourself, and accept them for what/who they are. And, no, odds are, You don't have to "join" them in order to stay their friend. If that were the case, they wouldn't be real friends, anyway!

I know that deep down inside of me, I'm thinking exactly what you're thinking - that is if they dumped me, they are not worthy to be called friends. But hey, it's only easy for me to say that because I know that if it does happen, I will be depressed and shit........

It's been over a year since I've found JUB and I'm glad that it's still one place I can always count on to unload my cares..... ;)

Thanks......
