I think I understand why Neil's embarrassed.
I play a game named Mystery Case Files, which is a puzzle and a hidden-item scavenger hunt. I dare say it's the hardest hidden-object search game available. Needless to say, I play so much that I carry it to real life; I pay attention to every small thing in a field and usually do not miss out anything. When I don't notice something, I'm usually defeated for a minute.
I think that is what Neil feels now
