Thank you for this. His family is grateful for your support. He was the most observant, attentive person I've ever known. He taught me how to wonder. We've always been in your pocket.

Re: A new thread from ballcaphair

I'm at some loss-for-words, because I had interacted consistently with Chris the past few months. This is very sad news. I've known since Tuesday, because I've been in the inner circle with both Chris and willhunt for some time now. I got a cryptic message Monday about email being "unresponsive" but very quickly followed up with the awful truth on Tuesday. The rest, I'll quote from my post in the companion thread that shows up in Hot Topics.

Mods, may I suggest a change in the name of this thread? There are some who think of this thread as "ballcaphair's take-a-knee thread" and may be disinclined to look at the most recent posts. Changing the thread name may get the news to more people.

Though I never met him, and there was very little likelihood that I ever would, I became very fond of Chris. And, he was very fond of me...he regarded me as family. Perhaps a Big Brother, anyway we were both strongly in each others' loops.

We were exchanging PMs and/or emails nearly every day since sometime in fall (November'ish?).

I've left it up to willhunt to send my condolences to the rest of Chris' posse, and to any others who were important or dear to him. This is a devastating loss. He was here to give love to the world, and he left us with that legacy.

I always appreciated his voice or reason. I've been receiving sweet comments from him for so many years. I'm going to really miss hearing from him.

Is ballcaphair the man seen through the lens of glasses in a picture on the first page of the CE&P thread?

I must admit I never interacted with him at all, although I remember his posts, and I was aware of the prominent thread on CE&P. He always struck me in his style of expression as a much older man.

Was he with the Forestry Service or something? My lack of knowledge is showing. I again must admit I only ever paid little attention to the CE&P thread.

Maybe part of the reason for the lack of interaction with him is because, on the main personal political issue of his and willhunt's (NFL protests / knee-taking) he and I were on the exact polar opposites of the debate, I suspect he was well aware of it, or I surmise he must have known it, given how many posts I made, some very detailed, against the whole issue.

There were few on here who seemed so outgoing and active as him. I just never knew that much about him.

 OMG..........he was one of my favorite people here.......we messaged often and I still have several of them........ ........ :(

What an absolute tragedy.

My condolences to all his friends and loved ones.

Exceptional choice for a video. I watched it and listened to it while thinking of Chris and he fit in it so well. He never showed us anything less than his 'True Colors'.

Re: A new thread from ballcaphair

How incredibly tragic. He was always a gentleman. May his soul be at peace.

A very terrible loss for our community. We are sorry to hear of it. He will be missed.

It's devastating. He was a nurse, first responder and wildfire fighter. He didn't showoff his job or skills. He was a diamond. He probably knew you were politically opposites. He wasn't someone who would hang with like-kinds. He was always into debates that weren't yelling matches. He, to me, seemed older because he actually listened alot and was willing to change his mind and would tell you why. When he was committed, he dug in. We've been friends forever and I genuinely loved everything about him he has actually made me a little more conservative. He was beautiful too and not for the sake of being beautiful, because he was doing it just for himself. I'm going to paraphrase some advice that he gave me. "Trolls are unreal. They're not worth your time. Don't ignore them, pm the shit out of them and let the debate carry on. And I think, and I'm pretty sure on this, he concluded with "A troll wants you to be reactive, that is not at all proactive. There's a huge difference." My heart goes out to willhunt and his family because now JUB and the world will be much much dimmer. This really shakes me up.

Yes, that's him through the glasses and his "posse" fighting the world that's on fire. I wish I could have heard him laugh out loud. That would be heaven.

Re: A new thread from ballcaphair

I am posting here with an extremely Heavy Heart, after replying to Will's pm. This is devastating news to so many of us. JUB has lost a cherished member of our family. The World has lost a Brilliant Light! Chris was an Amazing Guy! He lit up all of our lives, and those he touched. He shall continue to, through the memories of him that we carry forward.

Will ... You are a central focus in my thoughts, and prayers.

Chris, ballcaphair, and Will, willhunt, have been Amazing beacons of Hope, Love, and Light, as I had the awesome pleasure to get to know them through JUB. They were the closest of friends, since they were kids, and they freely shared that brotherly bond with the rest of us.

I do not usually share PMs, but in his memory, this is part of a conversation I had with Chris over last Saturday, early AM, and Sunday afternoon. It would sadly be our last ...

The moon coming home tonight was fantastic. I love it, so do the deer, the dogs and cats. Last week an owl swooped me. Locally, that is good medicine. Do NOT trot out into the cold, cold night. You must run, or at least jog! I beg you, do not risk homothermia. Keep warm and dry. kiss Chris

If I was 40 years older, we'd probably be a pack of wolves.

Dancin' with the wolves, and swoopin' with the owls. \:/ (o) (*8*) :luv:

Chris shall always be a part of my Life.

That goes for You, too, Will! You have a permanent place in my Heart and Soul.

HUGE HUGS, Man!

In Memoriam

The star there –
do you see?
The night is
cold,
the wind
bitter,
but that star,
right there,
it is new.

I know it,
in my self,
I know it.

Look! It is
melting!
Its shine
is flowing.

Wait --
It is clear
again,
and cold.
It is but
my lens
that blears.

The wind
is too
much.
But, I cannot
turn away.
