What are some good gay movies?

i loved both The Curiosity of Chance and Juste Une Question D'Amour (Just a Question of Love)

My favorite is definitely Latter Days. I recently have been on a gay movie watching streak, courtesy of http://gaythemed-films.blogspot.com/.

I also really liked Shelter.

I have noticed, though, that most of these movies do not end well...the main character does not get his "man" or his love is not mutual. Why is that?

As Good as it Gets is just ok. Bedrooms and Hallways was also just ok. Before Night Falls was tremendously depressing. Bent is also depressing. Broken Hearts Club A Romantic Comedy is one of the best. Chuck and Buck is dodgy. Another Gay Movie has it's moments. Shelter is apparently good.

If anyone gives a rat's ass here's my opinion:

CHUCK AND BUCK is so good!!!!!!! I love Michael White.

BROKEN HEARTS CLUB is dull...no need to say more.

ANOTHER GAY MOVIE is almost painful to watch, and for a comedy to be boring is BAD.

SHELTER, I am looking forward to seeing

LATTER DAYS, eh, it just sits there being preachy and annoying. Oh Mary Kay Place, why?? This dull piece of crap must have looked great on paper.

BEAUTIFUL THING is highly overrated. It's an OK drama, but what the hell is going on with that ending? It turns into a bad music video or something.

THE OPPOSITE OF SEX and HAPPY ENDINGS I both like quite a lot. Some of the dialogue in THE OPPOSITE OF SEX is just classic.

The biggest mystery of them all to me is SORDID LIVES. This "movie" is beyond bad. It is poorly acted, written, photographed, edited. Just yuck. I am aware it is based on a play, yet nothing has been done to move it beyond looking and feeling like someone photographing a play. There is nothing cinematic about it. And yes, I am aware that it was shot with a very small budget and it is supposed to resemble a documentary. Or at least I assume it is supposed to, what with the main character breaking the fourth wall and almost narrating the thing at times. Or is this a "creative" device? No, I think it's just lazy. Again, no work was done to move it out of 'filmed play' territory.
On to the cinematography, and I use that term loosely. Again, nothing against movies shot on video, but wow. Just wow. This is the ugliest thing I have EVER looked at that had name actors in it.
And well, to be honest nothing in this movie was funny or entertaining to me. And I LOVE Beth Grant to death. It was painful. And the show on LOGO is dull as hell. I need to stop now, why am I wasting energy on this?

I give a rat's ass. And I agree with most of the views you had of the films mentioned.

This film is very close to my own coming out. Same time period, similar situations, music, etc.

'inside monkey zetterland' [1993] starring and written by steve antin. a wacky off beat story of his true life story [loosely based] of his family. you either love or hate this movie, i love it so much i own it.

Ok i'll be honest I'm not really into gay movie's because they usually display the things I hate about gay lifestyle (i.e. drugs, promiscuous sex, queeny attitudes, etc) but my girlfriend actually told me about "Shelter" and I have to say its one of my all time favs because it captures my life so perfectly but I'm bi haha. Anyway I don't want to spoil it for you, just get it and watch it with a lot of friends because its a refreshing movie that's not just a coming out story but about family and friends. I can't tell you enough about how much I loved this movie, even my str8 friends loved it so that should tell you something.

Have to agre with "Boys In The Band". Yes , it's dated in many ways (after all, it's 1969!), but the razor-sharp dialogue is the wittiest and most biting I've ever heard. The most quotable movie since "All About Eve" "Casablanca" and "Susnset Boulevard".

Is there a US version of Beautiful thing?

I have seen the UK one, but I have read things that talk about things that arnt there lol I would really recommend the UK one, so sweet and gay.
