Oh! And I can't forget Tire d'érable! Toffee made on fresh snow with maple syrup. Awesome. In small quantities.

How did I miss this? We got to do that in Vermont -- of course it was summer so it wasn't real snow (flaked ice, instead), but wow!

And when hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail at high altitudes with snow fields around, we always had French toast or pancakes, and whatever syrup was left on the plate (actually, I used a Frisbee) we carefully scraped into little spots on the snow; by the time we'd finished cleaning up after breakfast and packing for the trail, it had hardened into a nice sweet treat -- not nearly as good as the real thing, but still wonderful.

Cheney's main reason for invading Canada would be to get to the oil under the Arctic before Russia does.
