Realistically, what are the STD risks from

(i) receiving
(ii) giving

a BJ from/to a stranger?

Are there any visual signs that would alert one that the guy has an STD?

i got gonorrhea of the throat from giving a stranger from Grindr a blowjob. I swallowed his load. big mistake. You definitely cannot tell who has anything. As far as receiving a blowjob from a stranger, I bet if I had sucked another guy while I still had the STD in my throat, I could have passed it into his dick. maybe. just be careful.

I can't speak for everyone, but I would be dead by now from all the BJs and cum I have had in my mouth. I usually go for a more straight appearing closet type of guy who at least in my mind is less promiscious that someone who looks like they party a lot and do drugs. Just my take on it. Married guys are more cautious about whom they let suck their cock too. My bJ list is in the thousands and I have never been sick from it.

Most common and easily transmitted STDs from oral sex are: herpes, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Chlamydia can also be caught through oral sex but not as common. Some carriers don't develop symptoms so they don't even know they have an STD. Your only way to protect yourself is to either use condoms for oral sex (which is not realistic at all) or to know that your partner has been tested. So the more hookups you will have with random guys you meet on the net or in bars, higher your risk will be.

That's so true, oral sex with a condom is pretty much the biggest turn off.

The most common STDs in men who have sex with men (MSM) that are monitored by public health agencies are gonorrhea and chlamydia. It varies by city which is the most common. In most cities, gonorrhea is the most common- probably because it is the most likely to cause enough discomfort to the point that the person seeks treatment. About 10% of chlamydia infections are asymptomatic. We think about 20-30% of what we treat as "sore throat" or non-gonorrheal infection of the urethra is chlamydia.

The curious exception specific to giving blowjobs is that most guys who get gonorrhea of the throat don't know they have it.
Results. Prevalence of pharyngeal gonorrhea was 5.5% (136 cases diagnosed from 2475 tests). The incidence rate was 11.2 cases per 100 person-years. Pharyngeal gonorrhea was positively associated with younger age and the number of insertive oral sex partners in the past 3 months. Ejaculation did not increase the risk of pharyngeal gonorrhea. Gonorrhea of the pharynx was asymptomatic in 92% of cases.

The STD that we're becoming more and more aware of is HPV. There are several strains that cause cancers- in particular oral and anal cancers. It used to be that most oral cancers were connected to tobacco use. In the past 20 years, there has been a significant increase in cancer of the mouth and throat. The majority of those cancers are showing positive for HPV and we believe the increase is connected to HPV transmission during oral sex.

for me the risk is worth it.... nothing a little medication can't fix hahahaha

Herpes Type II...first gay encounter...oral only, never any anal, didn't swallow but a little got in my mouth.

Medication can't fix me and has fucked my sexual life forever...hope its still worth it for you.

Sorry for the bump but I wanted to ask something.

What are the chances of me catching an STD if I'm only recieving a blowjob and not giving it? Also what are the common signs of an STD through recieving a blowjob?
