  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What ARE they thinking?

A tattoo is a personal choice.

How many tattoos a person has is a personal choice.

They may not be my personal choice, but I have to respect a person's right to express themselves in that way.

And some tattoos that I have seen (tramp stamps) can be hot to me. :D

Of course it's a personal choice.

But, to pretend that the person didn't get it (them), to impress someone else, to be judged, is a lie.

It seems odd, silly, even, to me, when someone who goes through the pain and expense of getting a tattoo can't 'man up' to the real/main reason he/she got it.

^So why don't you tell us why I plan to get my tattoos, because I'd really love to know who I plan to impress with them.

I already did. See line 2 of post #25.

Even though I'm not the least bit interested in 'knowing who', I would think that you would be. I think that should be a very BIG part of the "planning it out thoroughly before getting one" stage - I'm sure it is.

Come on, why are you telling us that you plan to get some? <--- completely rhetorical question, of course. ;)

Yes, you're absolutely right, of course. It is much better to be vocal and obnoxious to people from whom your face is hidden, who can easily and immediately discard your views because they have no context and could easily be sensationalist tripe that is thrown out to garner attention.

Continue erasing your human contest from your online identity and keep lobbing turds over the internet wall to those people on the other side of the planet. Get it all out of your system.

Oh, and look up the word "integrity" in your English dictionary, and after you've learned its meaning, go ahead and mark through it with a black marker, as you won't be needing it.

you preaching me is quite boring seriously.
Yes i admit sometimes i over react online, so what.

Post no.#23 has as much intellectual subtlety and depth as obama's first campaign slogan

To the 'investment' angle:

I believe that getting (paying cash for?) a tattoo to win approval/acceptance in one's social circles should be considered every bit 'an investment' as it would be to get cosmetic surgeries for the same purpose.

One is investing in one's overall mental and physical well-being with hopes that it will 'pan out' - emotionally, socially, and, yes, even financially.

But it's not, hence, you haven't "told" me anything.

Getting a tattoo is - or should be - a personal choice based upon something you want to embody, not what someone else will be "impressed" by; i'm not getting something on MY body to go in line with some other persons' standard, otherwise I may as well not even sit in the chair.

Nice try, but logic like that is just annoying.

(and I state that I plan on it because I can't state that I've gotten them yet. Simple answer for your "rhetoric".)

Making you squirm, watching you squirm, was not my intention - not my idea of fun.

Do some thinking for yourself, and please, at least, try to be honest with/to yourself in the process.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I am, and I have been.

Thanks. Or rather, you're welcome? Either or.

For all you haters out there, in the winter when I was bored and blowing off some time posting pics about beautiful things about men, I discovered just how amazing and complex and beautiful and totally hot body art can be. There are probably about 100+ incredibly beautiful pics that I posted in that thread. since then, I have a whole new appreciation for some of the finer body art and have even asked a couple of people more about their tats.

For the Grimshaw/Benvolios though, there will be no convincing them. It is just one more thing that they and others remain closed to. But it is their lives that are the poorer for it.

I don't care about how wide tattoo(s) cover a man's body. I care more about the design.
A bad tattoo spoils everything even if it's the size of your pinky fingertip.

And yeah, haters gonna hate

I like what I like. Don't make fun of me! [-X

I wouldn't want a tattoo for myself, but it can be hot on a handsome man. Totally subjective of course. And I find the male body so gorgeous that I feel no need to add something on it. But if others want it, why not ? They do no harm.

One of my friends got a skull with wings on his back [shoulder to shoulder] and the tattoo artist told him to not work out at the gym for a month or else you will stretch and peel the tattoo. Guess what happened? Tattoo looks so bad now and he had to spend an extra $500 having it touched up.

I don't mind tattoos if they are tasteful. My BF has a few and I love them.

Depends on the tat. My BF designed I really nice back piece that runs from shoulder to shoulder. A nicely done tattoo is damned sexy :D

I think tatoo is artistic and a complicate art skill. But I only enjoy tribal tatoo on guys. Portarits, bible phases/ quotes or animals tatoos are all really ugly to me especially when they fade off in a few years. As for shaving I personally think natural hair do looks good on some guys. But if they prefer to shave them I guess not much can be done.

What surprises me most about these threads is how those who profess to not like the aesthetic of tattoos, and who wouldl never get one, always have some amazing in-depth knowledge of the psychology and mindset which goes into getting one. You all must have run some pretty extensive studies to collect your data ;)

Side note: It's not always a matter of "going through" the pain, as often times, the pain in itself is an important part of the entire thing, and can actually be quite enjoyable. I know many people for whom the pain is a big part of the influence in wanting to get more work done.
