Anyway. I bought a used copy of "The Gambler" on Amazon. Not the version with Kenny Rogers. The version with Mark Walhburg. Marky Mark. Ok. He's easy on the eyes. I bought it because John Goodman is in it.
Supper tonight is going to be "different". But that's the fun of cooking.
 
Just got home from work, having a beer, checking out JUB, then will move on to playing online poker.
 
Listening to our neighbour shooting pheasants they raise and then set free so that they can shoot them.

One downside to living out in the countryside among people who think they are squires because they have 20 acres.

Wondering how I'll survive the holiday season, which, as always, is a profoundly lonely time of year...
 
^ One key is to treat yourself. Try to get out to a Christmas concert. As well stay connected here...we are all around.

If you have spent all the years not doing anything at Christmas, it gets more and more difficult as the years go by to be social.

For us this year, we are going to push ourselves to do a few dinners, even though we are wiped out from Covid. Because I know that the years may be coming when we may be on our own for the season.
 
I'm not lonely because of The Holidays. Hell, I don't see anyone showing up or inviting us to things like 4th of July cookouts or the like. Christmas and New Year's is the same way now that the kids have their own kids and grandkids... so, great grands simply don't count. It is what it is.
 
I got back from my brothers yearly Xmas get together. It was so nice. Seeing everyone, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
I know that all don't have that, but it was a really nice day.
 
My haggard body has dragged my grey soul into work after a week at home.

Just staying long enough to take care of most urgent stuff and then done and back to work in isolation at home.
 
I am sitting here in a fleece jacket, scarf and touque at my desk...I went outside today and am having a terrible time getting and staying warm.

Ah Covid.
 
Thinking of what is in the pantry and freezer and what's going to be supper tonight. Drawing a blank.

Me? I like the idea of a grilled cheese sandwich. Rye bread and swiss cheese. Or a can of beef stew. Or a can of Wolf Brand Chili with a few saltines. But Someone isn't going to go for that little plan.

French fries and Gorton's fish fillets in the oven seem like a good idea. Add a bit of heat to the house, too.
