  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Attention What are you doing at the moment? 2024-25

Baking some country styled "ribs" with a dry rub before broiling them with a delicious raspberty chipotle sauce my neighbors brought back as a gift from their seaside trip. Should be splendrificous.

Wishing conversion therapy worked...

Posted some commentary elsewhere on this site, which made me realize that some of my political views make me unwelcome in the gay community. It might be best for all of us if my gay just went way...

Of course, I know it won't. All I can do is suffer in a world where I belong by virtue of sexual orientation, but am unwelcome because I don't want to kiss certain political asses.

Some of your political views would likely make you unpopular in the straight community too. :D

Who cares though?

Perhaps sometimes we overestimate how much others really are affected by an avatar's political position or opinions?

You sure about that?

^ Well then...JUB specifically. :D

Accidentally burned part of dinner last night, and even now the pan won't come clean...even with overnight soak and all my usual tools. I wonder if the pan will be a write off. Great thing at a time when I'm very conscious of every dollar I spend...

Put water in, pop it on the stove and bring to boil, simmer it for twenty then scrub - keep doing until clean.

Simmering water is the way to go. Then maybe some Barkeepers Friend. Then there is take it outside and use oven cleaner.

If all fails, call it "seasoned" and go on using it.

I have a set of Salad Master cookware. Not cheap. It was bought in 1968 and She and my hubby's ex drove from Eastland to Abilene or Odessa to pick it up. The outsides looked like cast iron because that just needs a little rinsing, you don't cook on the outside.
She could cook. Oh, my.
She died. Her husband followed 3 years later. No one wanted the cookware or anything from the kitchen. They were going on about who gets the bookcases and the sofa and the recliners and whatever else.
So they are doing that and I'm in the kitchen scoping out her cookbooks. I scored the goldmine book, the one with all of her pie recipes. I found the recipe for Prune Cake.

We got the cookware. I missed a few pieces but I didn't know better. I filled the gaps via eBay.

I spread newspaper on the patio and sprayed it all with oven cleaner. Not the handles of course. Came out spotless, looking like almost new. Well, yeah, 1968 to 2004, you get a few scratches.

My cooking skills went way way up. Way up.

No one wanted the washer and dryer set. Maytag, five years old, just need a coin mech to be in a laundromat. I had a friend that worked for Maytag, that's what he said. The washer needed a new water valve about 10 years ago. The dryer got wonky a few years ago about drying on Auto. Sometimes normal, sometimes no heat. It's called a "cycling thermostat" and it was easy to replace. I have maybe $50 in parts over 20 years for the set.

I bet all that furniture has long been replaced..... But everyone seemed happy with what they got.

Do what my Mom said to do. Get in bed, get the covers right, lay still and shut your eyes. Even if you don't want to go to sleep, your body needs the rest.

Just finished breakfast. Bought a breakfast burrito and small coffee from McDonalds. I forgot to ask for the senior discount on the coffee at the drive-up window, but they figured it out and gave it to me. There was a discount on the second burrito so I bought one for tomorrow. I mailed my passport renewal forms yesterday. That will take 6 or more weeks. Will be going for my morning walk in a little while.

But the only pan you use is the stuffed cabbage pan!

I'm sending you a nice stainless steel pan.

It might have stuffed cabbages inside. Been sitting on the stovetop for a few weeks now.

Looks like it's growing green fur or something

Anyhoo. Enjoy.
