  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What are you doing right now?

And like many before them in less visible positions, they get to deal with the fallout.

I just salted an elderly neighbors walkways because we did receive a thin layer or icy slushy snow. And now having tea.

Woke after about four hours of sleep and watching a couple of episodes of Border Security, some crime show featuring airport security at places around the globe, but these two are Canada and Australia.

After the Canadian officer grilled a Jamaican "tourist" extensively, he examined her funeral program that she offered to explain her trip to allegedly attend her grandmother's funeral. He noticed the last name, which was the traveller's last name, was digitally inserted in the program, an apparent scam to deflect suspicion for the travel to a known drug hub.

More search, and the threat of a cavity search, convinced the woman to finally come clean that she was smuggling drugs on her person. The final shot revealed her bra had been full of two packs of cocaine. The last narrative of that segment just had to say it: "the officer's suspicions led to a big bust." :dead:

I am not having a good day. And in the time leading up to the holidays, other peoples' bad behaviour is making me more and more cross and overloaded with their problems on top of my own.

Wanna go home and curl up with the cats.

I'm half watching them take down a large tree in my back yard. One guy is in a cherry picker about 50-60 feet in the air cutting branches off and he isn't quite at the top of the tree. There are three or more people on the ground, including some women, who are dragging them around the front and another person putting them through a shredder. Our neighbors have fences and it is close so we weren't sure they could get equipment to the back yard, but it is a narrower machine and then they stick out support legs farther out once it is in position. One company who bid on the job was going to have the crane in the front yard and reach over the house, but they were more expensive. This company bid under $4000 but two others bid just over $7000. We had this company take down two trees in the front yard less than a year ago and they were good.

WOW, OMG. They have a crane on a huge truck backed up onto our front yard about 5-6 feet in front of our picture window with a huge crane on it about a 100 feet in the air and are reaching over our house and attaching a line onto a branch on the tree in our back yard. Then they are cutting the branch off using the cherry picker in our back yard and lifting the branch over our roof out to the street where there is a shredder which is able to shred the branch. They are able to shred branches about a foot thick. I am impressed.

In other news: Thad1527 was in Cleveland over the weekend and we saw three shows which I have mentioned in the entertainment: shows thread.

Watching "Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows".

I remember really enjoying it as a kid in the 60's, but it seemed so radical then. We all had a corny views of nuns and there was a spate of Gidget-type movies. I think this is the one that "inspired" The Flying Nun.

The writing is awful. Terrible sight gags. Corny setups and ridiculous "crises" to propel the plot. Like one long I Love Lucy episode. But, in fairness, it was a very different time. And it was a silly romp, so audiences got what they went for. Nuns wearing makeup. As if.

The good part is seeing all the 60's clothes, cars, and haircuts.

I went through two or three tree services in the past five years here, in addition to cutting some myself. One contractor brought his wife and seven-year-old girl with him.

A friend over a year ago needed a single large (dying) tree cut from his back yard. The quote he got was $11k, I think. It wasn't worth that, but we have a lot of lazy folk here who are jacking up prices because there is a building boom here and they are making hay.

Glad to hear you guys got to take in the shows AND the crane show. :D

I suppose, then, giving him a Christmas goose is a bad idea.

A really bad idea. Dangerous, even.
