I "scored" some morel mushrooms Sunday afternoon from a "gatherer" who met me 11 miles south of here. Starting last night, sauteed morels; chicken and morel noodle soup; more sauteed morels which I'll put in some couscous tomorrow night; more left to sautee or use as an ingredient.

I haven't had this delicacy in ten years. I've missed it!!

Probably the most expensive food I ever prepare at home - these cost much more per pound than a good steak.
 
FISH NIGHT!!!

Fish nights are ALWAYS special...it's my favorite kind of meat.

Frozen walleye pike from WalMart which, oddly, is the only place within fifty miles that I can get the kinds of fish that I really like. Well, just that ONE kind. (I like salmon or catfish a lot, which I can get easily, but walleye and lake perch are the ultimate for me.)
 
Going out to Texas Roadhouse and will have steak, baked potato and salad.

The beauty of being independent..."fish night" can be whatever night of the week I choose.

In fact, there is only one fish fry in this town on Fridays...and it's crummy boring haddock. (or it was a couple years ago anyway).
