  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

I use to hate cooking. I didn't know what I was doing.
Yeah, I could fry eggs and make omelettes. Spaghetti and a can of sauce is super simple. But after several years of "good eats" was Hamburger Helper and then when any flavor started to taste like plastic.... time to figure this shit out. I'm still figuring it out.

I don't love cooking - and if doing it for just 1 or 2 of you it seems like a lot of work, but with the cost of eating out - even fast food these days - I am trying to cook at home more.

Luckily it will soon be grilling season and that is simple - just pack the freezer with steaks, hamburgers, pork chops, etc. and it is an easy dinner and since I cook outside it does not heat up the kitchen!

So Tonight is the night for our pierogies, Staffed cabbage meat and rice patties baked in tomato sauce and the chopped cabbage extra from the stuffing. With sour creme. yum

Cost is a good incentive to cook at home. I also think it can be easier to eat healthfully if one cooks. Especially if compared to fast food places!

Someone once told me that at one point in his life he had no real kitchen to work with, due to some remodel project. For a period, he was using a barbeque pretty much each day, year round! He was apparently able to cook a lot of stuff on it, past the usual things.

^^ What's the ocasion?
No occasion at all.... we cook all these things and then freeze them so we have one meal per month+/_ of each dish over the year. This is part of our menu planning.

You are invited, you know.

Reprise of Christmas Turkey dinner. mmmmmmmmmmmm

I just had a light dinner of 2 slices of turkey lunchmeat and a slice a Colby cheese (from a deli). What I am looking forward to is a healthy slice of of Pumpkin (cake) roll from the grocery store bakery topped with a large dose of Reddi-Whip topping.

Can of vegetarian chili and a salad. First salad in a while, but was craving one last night.

The fast "just heat" nights have mostly turned to canned stuff, because the microwave decided: Enough is enough! Stick a fork in me like you would a reheated frozen dinner I've heated--I'm done!

out for dins to a steakhouse tonight...so I haven't a clue what to have for dinner.

I had an eight pound pork loin. I quartered it. Three "roasts" vac-sealed and in the freezer. One is on the counter. Wrapped and resting in plastic film. Salt, pepper, a wave of onion powder, a more generous wave of garlic powder, a good rub in of a multi pepper mix, and a good sprinkle of some McCormick's jerk stuff. More salt. All rubbed in on all sides. Smells good.
It's going into the oven in a while. Rice on the side.

I made some vegetable soup, which I had with another salad. I used bagged salad ( ) which is now used up. But I have dressing left. So I'll probably get more salad mix. Use up the dressing, and need something for the rest of the salad mix. Get more dressing. And...

Taco pizza from Taco Bell and a couple of their new chicken empanadas. In a funky mood and don’t feel like cooking
