  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Attention What are you having for dinner?

It got hot today - felt like summer.

So beer and buffalo wings out on the deck.

Last I heard, buffalo were land animals who had no wings. So anyone selling buffalo wings is a cheat!

Homemade chocolate shake.

1 pint Haggen Daz chocolate ice cream. 14 ounces :sneaky:

Heaping 1/4 cup of Carnation malted milk powder.

1 good squirt of Ghirardelli chocolate sauce.

Blend well in blender.

A quick healthy dinner. :)
I do so admire you having such a low fat, low added sugar dinner!

A Saffron Road "General Tso's" frozen entree. Saffron Road coicidentally is currently the cheapest priced product at my local grocery store--at least among the healthier brands of frozen entrees. I could save money and get some more mainstream offering, but the lists of ingrediants on such products look like something you'd find in a boittle in a mad scientists lab, not my dinner plate..

I was thinking recently of ratatouille, which was something my mother made sometimes in summer. It prompted me to buy a small eggplant--then, when I did research, found that ratatouille is a summer dish. It shouldn't have been a surprise, since it was one of the dishes used to get rid of zucchini from our garden. But I had an eggplant that needed to be used up, so I cooked it with some stewed Italian tomatoes. It was OK-ish, but it did remind me that eggplant is something I will eat, but it's not anything I have huge love for.

I might try making ratatouille in a few months, when fresh tomatoes are decent.

Earlier this week it was hot and summer like so I bought some hot sausage to make hot sausage sandwiches.

Today it was cold, dark and damp so hot sausage sandwiches on the grill became spaghetti and sausage.

Last night was "Chickpea Mulligatawny" cooked from scratch. It didn't work out quite as well as I'd hoped...but it was an interesting idea. A different recipe might work better for me. At least, it was somthing to eat--and a break from weeknight "keep it as easy as possible!" meals.

Spanish rice, made from Rice A Roni with a few things added in hopes of making it healthier/more of a meal. I may be doing this again and again the next 1 1/2 weeks. Ye Olde Grocery Budget is in a precarious state for this point of the month...

I was thinking of Sunday, which was Easter. It was just a typical dinner. But I keep thinking if only I had children, I could have had the fun of serving a big, bubbling pot of rabbit stew.

[Sound of deranged laughter in background.]

Ham and scallpoed potatoes redux, before the last of it it made into a ham pie to pop in the freezer.

ugh....left over pork roat and carrots....good thing im not hungry

It was a burger and fries with a side of bacon.
I was thinking of doing an egg over easy with the burger, but I didn't think the textures would be a good match up.
I had that supper and breakfast in my head.

Fried Chicken from the grocery store deli counter. Have not had it in a long time. Price is still good. Size is still good. Nice and moist.

The only thing missing is it USED to have flavor!
