  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

Attention What are you having for dinner?

I like using red or orange peppers for stuffed peppers. The flavor is so much more mild than green.

I think the green ones are sturdier, though -- hold their shape better. I suppose I could be imagining it.

But, I love the flavour of bell peppers, anyway. I'll take all the green ones.:)

Hit 90 here - so the menu changed to grilling burgers and beers out on the deck. Now it is 1030PM and still 70 outside...

80 degrees in So Cal but still hell bent on having soup for dinner

If you have been in air conditioning all day, that can dry you out a bit and make you crave moisture/moist food of any kind.

If you have been physically active outside in the heat for even a short while, craving a brothy, salty soup makes perfect sense -- and is probably better for you than any bottled sports drinks.

mmmm potato leek soup...from our own garden.

With heavy cream.

And fresh baked bread.

I had something called Caribbean Lime Chicken, taken from a recipe book. First you marinade the chicken in lime juice, lime peel, ginger, hot sauce, rum, and garlic overnight. When you cook it the next day, you add a can of pureed tomatoes, onion, molasses, and a cinnamon stick, and cook the ingredients until it becomes a thick sauce over the chicken. The recipe suggests adding a banana at the end. Delicious!

Left over kapusta, the way my mom used to do. Always better the second day
