Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What are you reading right now?

Der Tod in Venedig by Thomas Mann.

And because my German is not that good, I have my trusty dictionary next to it.

Needless to say, it's slow going.

"A Little Empire Of Their Own" by Bruce Farcau (combo of Mexico in the 1860's & the Empress Charlotte during WWI - yes she was still alive!) trading off w/ "Jane and the Stillroom Maid" by Stephanie Barron (Jane Austen as detective)

Squares, Triangles And Saucers by Jim Moon - Alternative Science Fiction with a capital A Jim Moon successfully creates characters that grab your attentions (and affections) - placing them in a situations unlike any other Sci-Fi novels have gone before. The New York Times Theatre Section

Listed right now is all sorts of information regarding the Tony Awards, Pulitzer Prizes, and the reviews of current and past reviewers.

From the different categories and listings i want to see if i can re-create a list of the majority of theatre productions i have seen since ?? BC.

Many of the old reviews are also available but they are PDF and when printed out are too small to read.

Just sort of curious to see how extensive a list i can come up with - just a curiosity.](*,)

It will probably take a week or so to print out all the various kinds of information and listings.

Also the autobiography of Kitty Carlisle Hart - "Kitty" had just arrived along with a new play called "Blackbird" which just recently opened on Broadway.

And there's me thinking it was gonna be someone's obituary

I just finished reading "The Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan, and now I'm reading "The Sword of Truth" series by Terry Goodkind. I, too, am also anxiously awaiting the final installment of the Harry Potter series!!

I just started "Dress Your Children in Corduroy and Denim"--- it finally hit the remaindered shelves at Borders! (I'm such a cheapskate!)

I just finished his other book "Me Talk Pretty One Day" that I picked up at a garage sale and it's hilarious :rotflmao:. I gotta go buy me a copy of this too.

Currently I'm reading:

Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey by Chuck Palahniuk

and

Stormrider by David Gemmell (A friend at work suggested this to me, and it's really not the type of book I usually enjoy but I'm reading it anyways.)

Just finished A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. It was pretty good, but about 200 pages too long.

Currently reading Parting the Waters, the first volume of Taylor Branch's massive 3-volume biography of Martin Luther King, and I can't put it down! It's just stunning to be reminded of how unbelievably difficult the struggle against segregation was in the 50's and 60's. I may post some excerpts, cause there are parts that I think JUBbers would find very interesting.

And I just started Ask Me Tomorrow by James Gould Cozzens. I'll let you know what I think...

Oh, and of course I'm still pursuing my attempts to understand the New Testament, but the swamp just seems to get deeper and deeper...

Not as cheap as me -- I got it out of the library!

Did you know that if one male identical twin identifies himself as homosexual the other twin identifies himself as homosexual only 52% of the time? and if you are poor you have, on average, an IQ 15 points lower then someone from a middle or upper class background? yes this book is full of information, most of it extremely useless, but i must read it for a class that is if I don't bash my brain in with it first.

OK, but by the time "facts" like that make it into a textbook, they've usually been invalidated by about 6 new studies, so make sure you thoroughly floss your memory banks after your final...

I'm reading Jim thompson's "The Rip Off" and Daphine DuMaurier's "Rebecca".

Ooh, another Jim Thompson fan! He's great, isn't he? I haven't read that one, but I've read about 10 of his books.

And I read Rebecca when I were a young'un and loved it. Tried to reread it the other day, but I thought -- you know, this is awfully long and I already know how it comes out.

(But the book is different from the movie, or is that a spoiler?)
