  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What are your food staples?

I eat a lot rice, veggies, meats(chicken, pork, beef) .

I a huge fan of baked goods (croisant, cookies, doughnuts)

I love shrimp.

Once in a blue moon.........I indulge on LOBSTER. (my favorite)

water to drink - seldom anything else

usually a banana every day

usually some kind of juice every day (only the stuff with real ingredients)

spinach almost every day when at home. Difficult on the road as I like it cooked, not raw, so it's relegated to the occasional salad when traveling. Spinach is rarely alone, but often accompanied by broccoli, green beans, asparagus, cauliflower, carrots, etc. (usually 2 to 4 of these, as well as sometimes the mushrooms below)

mushrooms often, about three or four times a week - sometimes even to snack on, raw.

Eggs quite often but not daily

usually an entire dark chocolate bar every day, probably not a great idea (but better than milk chocolate)

I try to have yogurt 3 or 4 times a week, various flavors

************
So, my staples are healthy, in general.

It's the non-staples I eat that are unhealthy, LOL - or at least some of them. For example, as for meats that are usually fried (such as chicken, fish, etc.) I invariably want them fried.

I've got to drop a good 20 pounds by the 4th of July... (Big wedding event...)

So, I'm down to a bare bones diet right now...

Morning: 3/4 cup high fiber cereal and skim milk.

Lunch: (The "big meal") A can of solid chunk albacore tuna with some olive oil and chopped garlic, plus some greens of some sort.

Dinner: A 12- ounce glass of low sodium V8 juice.

And that's it.

NO eating after the sun goes down.

Heh... Good point.

Oh, and BTW eating dry tuna and drinking V8 juice while everyone else is stuffing their face with Easter ham and mashed potatoes and green bean casserole and chocolate bunnies SUCKS ASS ~ :grrr:

What kind of STUPID question is that?! Gimme three of each. :D Oh, stop in the living room on your way to the kitchen, your tip is in between the sofa cushions.

Brilliant!!!:=D:

But Karen, boxed wine, really!? You naughty girl, you.... your avatar would suggested strictly bottled.[-X

Busted! I gotta admit, I know I'm a grown adult but sometimes I'm just a sucker for a juicebox.

I cook most my food on Sundays for the rest of the week (busy student), so on Saturday I stock up on:

Pasta (All kinds)
Chicken
Tomatos (whole canned and fresh)
Onions
Garlic
Peppers (Bell and fresno)
Red chili paste
Siracha (if I don't have any)
Sofrito (I make my own)
Herbs (Usually basil, thyme, rosemary and tarragon)
Soy, teriyaki and sesame sauce/oil
Rice
Beans (Black, red, garbanzo and cannelloni usually)
And then whatever I need for whatever else I'm making (usually never the same thing)

That tends to be the only food I have in my house (and most the week it's in tupperware containers lol).
