I remember watching a documentary about those libraries, back in my tender teens (by that meaning when Saddam Hussein was still a good guy to the Western World and Osama Bin Laden was "Who?"): they were left rotting in the desert, and had remained in that condition until the nightshirted rabbits with guns quickened and finished the job that the rest of the world had been doing by more than just omission.
