This is my boyfriend. We aren't married yet to be calling each other husband.

I call him my "Special Man-Friend". Haha. It started out as an inside joke between the two of us after he told me that he "[didn't] think 'boyfriend' sounded serious enough for being together for a year." Haha. It stuck.

I'm trying to get comfortable with husband, but I mostly use, partner and, more infrequently, spouse.

Husband seeing as I married him might as well call him by his correct title thou to be honest we have been together 14 years this coming October but have only been married 7 months so still finding the whole change of status a little odd at times.

I'd like to call him husband, but won't until we get gay marriage in Minnesota (and, duh, we get married).

"Partner" could be misconstrued as business partner, or trying to hide the fact that he's a man.

So I use "boyfriend", so his gender is very clear--as is my displeasure that we don't have gay marriage.

"Partner" sounds way too politically correct to use socially. I don't see why I wouldn't just say "boyfriend" or "fiance".

Agreed. I never liked "partner". "Boyfriend" is the way to go...plus it's a much tender loving term to use, therefore, more appropriate...IMO.

When talking about him: Fiancé, partner, husband.

When talking to him: Papi, daddy, baby, hunny, Love, sweetheart, and any other term of endearment.

I never liked the term "partner", either. It doesn't sound very affectionate.

Batman and Robin are partners.
Rocky and Bullwinkle are partners.

My boyfriend and I, we're boyfriends. ..|
(this is figuratively, I don't have a boyfriend)
