When talking about him: Fiancé, partner, husband.

When talking to him: Papi, daddy, baby, hunny, Love, sweetheart, and any other term of endearment.
Oh, well in that case, it might be Buttercup or Pumpkin when addressing him directly.

Which is really funny because he's a big burly ex-powerlifter.

He smiles whenever I say those things, and says something equally syrupy back. :D We have fun with it.

S.O.

"Boyfriend" and "husband" still have a straight connotation to my ears. "Partner" sounds too sterile. "S.O." - you gotta abbreviate it, "significant other" sounds lame - is perfect. It's playful but still has an air of importance.

If that doesn't work, I also go for "my guy", as in "this is my guy Steve", or if things aren't that serious yet, I say "this is *the guy I'm seeing*, Steve". It's very casual, but I like it.

Fine, i'll say it:

Words like "Partner", "Lover" and "Significant other" not only sound politically correct, but they actually sound a bit homophobic to me; it's something to say in order to avoid legitimizing it as a common relationship, and I can easily imagine some self-loathing queef saying it to avoid saying "I'm gay and have a boyfriend."

So, i'm actually offended by those terms.

That works, too. :p You could also say "He's my bitch".

I cliked partner by mistake...

I say boyfriend... why not ?

I introduce him or when I show his picture to someone I say bf.

He calls me "cricket" and I have several pet names for him: honey, sweets, sweet prince, my love and sometimes smart ass. lol

Steven.

I call him by his name.

Amongst other gays, I refer to him as my boyfriend.

Amongst straights, I refer to him as my partner.

Amongst Southern Baptist Christians, I refer to him as the antichrist.
For them, it softens the blow.

I call him my husband or my partner, depends who I'm talking to.
I tried "insignificant other" but he didn't like that. Picky picky picky.

Hmm I like boyfriend, but I long for something with more gravitas. Will he still be "boyfriend" at 10 years?

I don't even think I'd use it yet, I just want it to be there when I need it.

I call him my bf or partner some times both in the same conversation.
I realize many don't like partner but I don't have any problem with that.
Its a good word. He is who I dance with...|
Its doubtful I would ever call him my husband regularly or vise-versa.
As I am not the wife and he isn't husband, to me those words husband & wife are partnered as is salt & pepper.

Usually we introduce each other as husbands...

I used to call him "the boy" but some people thought that was not respectful. He loved it but I then started to refer to him as my fiancee or hubby....

Nomenclature usually calls me "Sweet asscheeks". Can't get any cuter than that, huh?

A sweet nickname which is based on his real name. I also use 'lieverd' (Dutch for darling if you have to believe Google).
