I didn't vote in your poll...

BUT -- it appears that through demonization of smoking (via threads like this and other media) and increased taxes...

Smoking MAY be TOTALLY ELIMINATED by 2050!!! :D

Let's HOPE that it HAPPENS!!!

(!)(!)(!)

Sorry, to put the above in perspective, last year, the UK raised £11billion through tax on tobacco. The is enough to cover three quarters of the state education and employment budget.

And just think of the tobacco-growing countries like South Africa and those in South America! It would be devastating to world economies!

I like a cigarillo once in a while.

Ironically, one person I knew who used to always demonize smokers shot himself in the head last year (...non accidntal I assure you..).

In my observation, anybody who has this 'holier than thou' perspective on living life always has something equally reprehensible going on.

like the latter, and also like this person I know has this motto that he's uttered more than once "it's not that I want to live long, but I want to live well..."
:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Is that why you consume twice as many calories as me, show up late for work dragging his ass because he always stays up late. Then wonders why everyone scorns him because instead of doing his job, follows others around in hopes to being a low budget apprentice (yeah, forget college..dude..), yet with any information we kindly give you seems to bombard to the point he would go back to do the meager tasks he was originally hired for..... And then one day decide to impregnate some succubus wench who has 5 children from at least two other men.... live well? the guy doesnt even exercise for chrissakes..

But no, we have to hold you to a diffrent standard because of a trivial habit that is tobacco. Nevermind your actions..

Smoking is as bad as many, many other things that include drinking and eating excessively and unhealthily. Do whatever you want to yourself, just don't let it affect others. For instance, don't smoke around non-smokers, please. Don't smoke in cars that you share with others. Don't smoke if you have children, and if you do, make sure you do it far away from them and anywhere that they go.

Smoking in no way makes you a morally bad person, it's just an unpleasant habit that is best kept away from others.

I can live with that.

I think smokers are awesome! They infuse the meat with that great smokey flavor that I just love.

Wait......ummm

Let them eat cake and smoke...geesh

Swerve that tax graph must be dated big time. I know the state tax in Florida on a pack of cigs is over a buck a pack and has been for 2 yrs.

Can we merge this I hate smoker monthly thread with a I hate bare backer, fast food eater, wal-mart shopper, chick filet, person with HIV, fat fucker, skinny jean, long hair, drunk thread(s)?

Get all that hate juice flowing in one mega thread instead of the usual monthly grumping post.

I am a non-smoker in a family of smokers.

My father, brother, and sister-in-law all smoke.

My ex b/f is a smoker.

It has personally never bothered me, and I can honestly say that I have never had the desire to try it.

I used to smoke (Marlboro red box) but don't any more. I find second-hand smoke rather offensive, but I don't like to preach. The only thing worse than a reformed hooker is a reformed smoker! I still get nostalgic over that wonderful after-dinner smoke, but I have no desire to resume smoking - unless perhaps The Rapture really is going to be on 10/21/11. :D

I didn't vote on the poll because no one choice worked for me.

In the past anyone I saw who smoked was invisible to me, didn't exist in my universe.

Lately, I can have friends who smoke, even though I think they might as well be taking arsenic on a daily basis instead.

Just keep your smoke away from me and you can smoke all you want...

My best friend smokes. I don't particularly agree with it, and I will always encourage him to quit, but never in a 'badgering' or 'forceful' manner. My encouragement comes from a place of compassion and support. He always expresses that he wants to quit, but never seems to maintain the mental fortitude or restraint to successfully do so. I will never understand how difficult it is to quit smoking, but I've seen him when he tries, and it breaks my heart, almost as much as knowing of the harm he's doing to himself every time he starts back up again.

I will never understand how somebody can completely disregard and vilify others simply because they smoke though. Whilst I really don't enjoy witnessing my friend bringing harm upon himself, his friendship outweighs all of those worries. I would hate to think that if I was as unrelenting and benighted as some of the people I see bashing smokers in similar 'smoking' threads on JUB, that right now I would be missing out on the greatest friendship I've ever had.

I don't like when people smoke. I try to avoid it.

Reminds me of a time when I worked for my aunt. She called me into the office and was smoking there. She was talking in my personal space straight at me while she was smoking. I tried holding my breath, but she just kept on talking. I inhaled a wiff, and coughed and stepped a little bit back. When she was done, I left and went to the bathroom. I was hacking my life out :(

With all of that said, for some reason I find guys smoking....hot.... if they're cigarettes or 420, I really don't know. I'm not a smoker, though.

I personally view it as another pointless health risk that's not worth my time and money, but if you want to smoke go a head, your life, not going to get preachy at you.

Sorry, to put the above in perspective, last year, the UK raised £11billion through tax on tobacco. The is enough to cover three quarters of the state education and employment budget.

But how much of that money was used to treat patients with smoking related health issue's through the NHS?

I think you need more options in your poll.

I have friends who smoke and it does bother me. They go outside to smoke.
