Yeah, legend. That is all :)

I loved legend...

Just another one... I suppose if it was blood sucking vampires everywhere I might take up the habit again...

It was a fairly good film wasn't it! Even if it was just a shit rip-off of a Danny Boyle spectacular!

I am off the opinion that every film at this point is a rip off of some other creation..

I do like it when they modernize great films or when Hollywood does their thing wth a foreign film...

But then again I like the originals too

So, you're comparing people who bathe once every 4 days and constantly smell of BO to smokers. I hardly think it's the same. Even when I didn't smoke, I never minded the smell of tobacco on people, but if somebody stank of BO, it was a whole different kettle of fish.

Get your comparisons in order. Not bathing, and smoking really aren't in the same league.

I don't see why. There are people with BO fetishes, but that doesn't mean the average person likes it. Most people dislike the smell of cigarettes, all to varying degrees. SOME people (most notably overly defensive smokers like you) like the smell, but most don't.

My opinion on the subject is if you want to do it then smoke just don't blow it into my face and we'll be fine. It's not me who's smoking the stuff and if I don't want to be around a smoker than I leave.

There's a woman who looks almost in her sixties who lives in front of us that smokes. She'll go out on her patio and talk loudly on the phone with that typical smoker's voice. Every now and then she starts coughing and it sounds like her lungs are made up of nothing but the mucus she is trying to spit out. It's disgusting.

My sister never showed any interest in cigarettes until high school. She would hide it from our parents, but showed off with cousins and other people our age. Suddenly she would either disappear and then be found outside smoking or she would stand up and let everyone know "ugh I gotta have a smoke". In stores she wouldn't even look at cigarettes on the way in, but waiting in line to pay on the way out she would notice them, "oh these are the best! My friend smokes these, but these are my favorite! Hmm I wanna try those!". She once tried to "teach" me about it. She said you don't just light it and smoke it. You take it out like this and you hold it like this, light it like this and stand like this, blow out the smoke like this. I remember thinking how stupid and vain it all was. She still smokes, but tries to quit every now and then.

So, disgusting, stupid and vain sums up smoking for me. Whenever I meet someone I'm attracted to and learn that they smoke I'm turned off and disappointed.

I love my electronic cigarette because I can enjoy smoking without the bitchy ass anti smoker twats and I don't contribute to littering and fuming the air with nasty smoke like the dirty, annoying, filthy smokers.

Likewise..I'll go out on a limb here and speak for the smokers who've been trained to avoid these abusive threads..

Whenever I meet a guy who I thought was cool, but then acts like the Surgeon General because I've lit up a smoke,I usually dismiss him..Turned off and disappointed..

Never did pretentious bullshit ..If you think smokers over the age of 14 stand around and practice smoking, you watch too many movies Kid..

Get out in the real world..But,you may run into a smoker or two.So put on your big girl panties and prepare to have the world smack you around a little bit..

Jesus Christ....

I know some smokers who are respectful and then I know some smokers with I don't give a fuck about you attitude who go out of your way to blow it in your face. There are two sides to everything. I don't smoke... but sometimes I go out of my way to smell it if what they're smoking is something of quality (it usually isn't ). People are pretty sensitive about this issue because it does, indeed, affect other people when you smoke. Sin tax is so ironic though.

Just, please don't smoke inside the house if you have kids. Please.

I do think they're killing people with second hand smoke but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's manslaughter. As long as they smoke in a designated smoking area, or a place where there's not a lot of traffic (e.g. not in front of the entrance of a building or smoking while walking in a crowded area) and they keep it away from me then I've got no problem. Even though I think it's a nasty habit, I think people should be free to do what they want.

Apparently my post has struck a nerve with you, you're obviously offended and I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed because I've decided I'm not going to apologize.

If anyone is being a little miss prima ballerina throwing a hissy fit before the big night in this thread it's you. For no reason, you've assumed I avoid people who smoke like the plague and that when I do encounter them I condescendingly lecture them on their health. You're also angry because people have the nerve to express their own opinions about smoking instead just of agreeing to your "real world" view. Madame, I suggest you discreetly pull your big girl panties out from your ass, I suspect it's the cause of your irritable mood.

former smoker, and it doesn't bother me

but, as far as the health concerns, my grandma never smoked, drank a bit and lived to 99

the last 12 yrs of her life sucked - she was in a nursing home, her husband was dead

and she was wheeled out for holidays and such

some people want to live a long life, but that can work out badly as well

Fair enough, smoke up! Though I do wonder if that figure includes health costs caused by second hand smoking. Also seeing that figure is from 2008 if the cost has gotten lower or higher since.

Yeah, the cost may well have gone up by now, since from 1998 - 2008, the cost has gone from 1.5 billion to 2.7 billion but, as the number of smokers has decreased quite a lot since 2009, maybe not. As for whether it covers the cost of 2nd hand smokers, I'm not sure, I think that would make quite interesting reading though.
