What does everyone think of Sioux Falls SD

I spent a month one week last spring in Sioux Falls, SD!

Let's just say it was pretty; the falls were pleasant and picturesque. I was just amazed that for a city its size, you never saw anyone walking downtown. I popped in one pub and there were people but you never saw them come or go so I'm guessing there was a parking lot out the back door (and there was).

It was cold and I didn't realize the tax rate. I believe I just read that there is one gay bar (not called a gay bar) in Sioux Falls and their Pride celebration is growing.

I was never so glad to get to Minneapolis!

There are parts of downtown Sioux Falls that have lots of pedestrian traffic. Phillips Ave is filled with shops and restaurants and there's people everywhere.

I've been to many places downtown and it was enjoyable.

It's better than Canada? Bullshit... this is one of the best places on earth to live. We are just as proud of our country, and rightly so, as any citizen of the United States. I am sick and tired of having my country bashed by ignorant people who in fact know nothing about Canada or they wouldn't bash it in the first place. You may now crawl back under that rock with the other trolls. :grrr:

I love Canada! Toronto during gay pride...WOWWWW! Actually Toronto is beautiful anytime. I've also been to Montreal in the fall with my hubby....we enjoyed the clubs, the historic old parts of town, the cathedrals. He had his hair styled (what else would a hair dresser do on vacation!) and it was amazing. Vancouver is spectacular and if one has been to Detroit, they should go to Windsor where it is clean, safe, and enjoy the spectacular skyline!

Flash also throws a pretty good JUB party.....

^

Was that because of 'meat packing' in the stockyards?

Haha... the world may never know ;)

I was hinting at Sanford hospital (which used to be called Sioux Valley - a far better name imho)

Not sure if that is too bad.

Hospitals are usually for sick people.

Hope you are feeling better.

^ wasnt for myself. thanks tho.
met a hottie in the Trauma unit named Tyler. he must of known I was checking him out cuz he gave me a wink, oh well. that ship has passed i guess

Jim:

I spent the first 20 years of my life not TOO far from Sioux Falls and I've spent too many years living in one of those other states with no income tax. IMHO, you could do much, much worse than SF. I think you'd find the people friendly and reasonable. You might even get overrun by jell-o molds and tuna casseroles when you move in.

I'm getting ready to move back to a place with relatively high taxes--but sanity has its price. Do commit to giving it a full year before you decide. Between the odd tornado, golfball sized hail storms, and raging blizzards, there really are 4 true seasons.

And, yes, if you look closely at the return address, you'll notice that many of your credit/debit cards come from Sioux Falls. Wouldn't you just LOVE to sit at the machine that stamps those suckers out all day long?

Jensu:

Ships have rudders! Turn around and run, don't walk, to that trauma unit.

As someone who passed up far too many--and just plain didn't even NOTICE a few hundred more--moments, I recommend you at least check to see if he was winking or had a loose contact.

It's worth the effort.

Thanks Ned.. maybe when I go back there I will look to see if hes there. he was too cute to pass up! especially in his blue hospital uniform!

LOL...but Nebraska has basket ball sized hail but it aint tax free....

South dakota looks less likely all jokes aside...because NORTH dakota has the jobs. Taxes are secondary to a job. Plus it looks like NORTH dakota has lower sales tax AND lower property tax.

LOL

North Dakota also has Alaskan-style winters...

There's nothing better than a man in a uniform, unless it's a man out of a uniform.

I think that was Mae West. Let's give her the credit, anyhow.
