I'm reading links about a shootout there. 12 people got killed and 31 injured.
Does anybody know more?
 
I saw this on a news break just before 7:00. I'm surprised nothing has been posted about it yet.

FORT HOOD, Texas - A military mental health doctor facing deployment overseas opened fire at the Fort Hood Army base on Thursday, setting off on a rampage that killed 11 other people and left 31 wounded. Authorities killed the gunman, and the violence was believed to be the worst mass shooting in history at a U.S. military base.

The shooting began around 1:30 p.m. EDT (1530 GMT), when shots were fired at the base's Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers who are about to be deployed or who are returning undergo medical screening, said Lt. Gen. Bob Cone at Fort Hood.

"It's a terrible tragedy. It's stunning," Cone said.

A law enforcement official identified the shooting suspect as Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

^ I watched some Fox news items that suggested that the suspect was a recent convert to Islam who hated the American Army. I turned them off when I heard them use the term "ragheads".
That's even too rich for me (I'm a Jihad Watch regular).

One guy, he shot up a bunch of Soldiers and a civiian cop before he was shot and killed.

The death toll (not including the piece of shit) is 12

He was apparently EXTREMELY annoyed, as a Muslim, that he was to be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Then he lost the plot.

Why didn't he just either refuse point blank to go, or do a runner and start over somewhere else?
 
The military is now holding a press conference where I suspect a lot will be revealed.

This event was supposed to begin almost 3 hours ago...
 
The biggest surprise from the briefing by the military.

The shooter is alive in the hospital, recovering from his wounds!

Its a mental issue and an early detection issue.
Australia caught afew muslim extremists who want to do similar thing but didn't succeed.

So you guys need a better early warning and prevention system.
 
I'm surprised that this is my first time hearing about this considering I live 2 hours away from Fort Hood (that name makes me laugh).
 
I've heard it said that not all Muslims are terrorists, but nearly all terrorists are Muslims. I feel sorry for honest, peace-loving Muslims who are now going to have to deal with this latest stain on their religion.

But in this man's case, whether it is considered poliitically incorrect or not, he was a psychiatrist who has converted to be a Muslim, and has publicly expressed his displeasure with Americans being in Iraq and Afghanistan, and was said to be happy about that Muslim killing people at an Army recruiting centre earlier this year. At the same time, he was counseling troops going to and coming back from the war - what the hell was the military thinking putting him in that position?

It is said he was a “convert” to Islam, but his own cousin said today that he has always been Islamic! Is it feasible for a Muslim to be in our military since it is, obvious, that their allegiance lies elsewhere? It's said that he was distressed at having to go overseas to kill some of his Islamic brothers, even though they are terrorists that hate America and all things American!

Has political correctness gone so far that we will allow a man who openly sympathizes with the very people we are at war with, to be promoted to an officer in our military, and then be given access to our troops and weapons with which to kill them?
