  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What food is absolutely disgusting to you?

Brussell sprouts, souse, pigs feet, any organ meat, runny eggs, sushi, fish roe and bleu cheese.

chicken Kiev (way, way too much butter)

scrapple

a really "stinky" cheese such as Limburger

"I DON'T LIKE SPAM!!!!"

I'm limiting the list to "normal" foods, rather than the kinds of things that turn up on Fear Factor which often are things never considered to be food...

:eek::eek: You people are sick!!!! Sick I tell you!!! Blech!!!!

I came home from school one day to find mum had a cows tongue on a plate in the fridge....

Liver, kidneys, tripe... I mean seriously people... you know what these bits DO dont you????:eek:

Oh... and boiled cabbage. Might as well eat toilet paper....

I have a serious aversion to Beets... just the smell alone makes me dry heave... I can not get it any where near me at all without feeling like I have to puke.

Olives... any and all... I think they taste like shoe.

Reminds me of an episode of All In The Family. Archie came home from work and asked Edith what was for supper and Edith told him, "Ox tongue soup."

Archie said he wasn't eating anything that came out of an animal's mouth and asked Edith to make him a couple of hard-boiled eggs instead.

Oysters because they just remind me of phlem

Liver, kidneys, basically any internal organs of an animal are a no no.

Tofu. You can flavour it any way you want to but it still has the texture and taste of tissue paper.

All cheese is great, the bluer the better. I think hard boiled eggs are disgusting and I can gag just looking at egg salad (and thinking about too apparently). As for tripe, I've had it two ways one disgusting and one great. If you just take the stomach and slice it up then it's just like eating big hunks of thick chewy skin, in fact that's what you are eating. However if you shave off what I believe is the inner layer of the stomach you get this neat looking honeycomb thing that tastes great and has a texture that is more like a noodle than skin and is really good, especially in pho.

Ketchup flavoured potato chips.

I forgot about ketchup chips

KELP, those people on the east coast eat the strangest things, and Sushi I guess the two years in the Maritimes turned me right off most sea food. What the people do in Newbrunswick to what should be healthy food is beyond me. As well Vegimite and Melamite, you Aussies and English also have some strange food habits, Mushy peas anyone.

Dulse is amazing, how dare you insult it! I guess you also insulted several generations of my family, but they can defend themselves. The poor Dulse is defenseless...

Brussel sprouts.

...that's the first one to come to mind. There will probably be more.

Lex

Yes Lex, same here, My mom always tried to con me into eating them. She would say "they are like babby cabbages". I wasn't particularily fond of cabbage either so that comparison didn't work for her.

I hate Milk by itself also, I hate all peas and beans, olives, raisins, mushrooms, minced onions and pickles, honeydew, and cantaloupe.

Kidneys, beef or veal. When I came home from school and mom was making that, the whole house smelled of piss. I can smell it even now just thinking of it.

And then there was liver; yuk, even the looks of it at the butcher's make me want to puke.

But the odd time, mom prepared oven roasted heart, I checked to see if all six kids were pressent and accounted for.

How could she do this to me... marked me for life I tell you ,

Yukyyyyyyyyy

If it was inside the cow, chicken or pig.....give it to the neighbours!

My sojourn in the Maritimes really did manage to turn me off of almost all seafood however. I guess lets face it I belong here in lotus land when culinary skills are revered and food is part art.

I have travelled the world quite a bit and love Korean food, even "mountain" food.

My Korean friends would take me to Chinese resturants it was nothing like chinese food back home.

The only thing I don't care for is IO (internal organs). The Greeks make a soup you eat around Easter. I forget if its before church/after church on easter, but everyone eats it and its made of io, think its called kokoretsi. Greeks love to adopt foreigners and bring them into their homes for holidays and of course did not want to upset them and had to eat it. The feast the next day is amazing and not to be missed, roast lamb or goat.

Anything with Butterscotch, hate the stuff, used to work in a home and when they had butterscotch whip I couldn't even serve it up because the smell would make me sick

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm finding this quite entertaining and enjoyable, and I'm very pleased by the responses.

There have been many threads about food you don't like to eat, but I don't think there has been a thread about foods that make you puke.

In the words of Mr. Spock: "Fascinating."

(I know, that's only 1 word, but hey. . . whatcha gonna do?)
