Hello to you all
Something that is a mystery : Where do we go when we die? Friends and i were having a debate and i would like to know what you all say on this. Given the facts with a biblical scripture to back it up, what happens to us when we die.
A christian is a person that believes in the birth of Jesus christ (immaculate conception) the crucifixtion and the resurrection and of course lives his life in the footsteps of christ.. The old testament is to pave the way for the prophesy of Christ to be fullfilled in the new testament.
So christians believe in the new testament and the faith is built on that. Jesus made it clear he came to fullfill the old testament.
Now on the topic, where do we go when we die? Do we go to heaven or hell or as some belive purgatory or do we stay asleep in the grave and wait for our lord to raise us up.
As christians we can read the bible and find the answers. The bible referes death as been in a deep sleep. In fact 66 times it makes clearly so. "Sleep" is clearly the biblical term for death.
To better understand what happens to us when we die, let us look at what happened when the first man, Adam was created.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7.
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. Ecclesiastes 12:7.
Do all our thoughts stop when we die, or do we just go to Heaven when we die without our bodies? The Dead do not Know Anything : that can be seen clearly in
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6,10.
The sleeping dead will one day rise again! For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
When Jesus comes, He will descend from heaven and shout, and all those who have died (fallen asleep in Christ) will rise. Then those who are still alive when Jesus comes will be caught up together with those who have died. From that time on, we will always be with the Lord!
When will this happen??? This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day.
And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:39-40.
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. John 5:26-
Conclusion: When we die according to scriptures we are asleep in the graves until the power of the Almighty Lord jesus christ raises us up to him.
