  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What has JUB taught you?

I have learn to trust some people and to, well, keep my distance from some other, where ever they are in the JUB food chain!

That someone can get fucked in the ass by Satan. But I still call bullshit. :p

Bullshit, i KNOW!!! Satan just teases you with the tip, but he never puts it in. Fucker.

I've learned that there are some 100% gay people who I would not call part of my community. To the point where if they're gay, I'm not.

But then I got over myself and realized that there are some people everywhere that I would think that about, and that's just because the world is not perfect, and human nature is not perfect, and that I'm good with 90 or 95%.

What has JUB taught me. Hmm...

Well, I've been here so long that it's kind of hard to remember a time without JUB, or "LMAO" as it used to be....

My very first days on the interwebz and logging on to JUB happened around the same time....

I guess I've learned that message boards and chat rooms are a lot like real life, insomuch as you tend to gravitate to the people that feel the same way as you do and surround yourself with their opinions basically because they are the same as your own.

It's like being at a party. There are some folks you love, some you can't stand, and everyone else falls somewhere in the middle.

I don't think basic human nature changes - no matter what the venue is comprised of....

I do tend to miss the "early days" of JUB, when there were lots of people here that would write long and thought-provoking posts about what it meant to be a gay man in today's society. I'd stay up WAY too late at night, curled up with my laptop reading and reading what these folks had to say. It meant more to me than I can say.

But, like everything else, JUB evolves and changes. These days, there is lots of bitterness here. Some folks get off on being sock puppets and trolls, posting multiple threads under different names all for the "fun" of it, I guess.

These people don't seem to realize how lucky they are to be living in a time when gays have the opportunity to speak their mind online in a safe community instead of keeping all their feelings bottled-up and in the closet.

That's one part of JUB that really depresses me.

So to wrap up this babbling reply, I guess the basic thing that JUB has taught me is that in life there are wonderful people and some magnificent assholes.

I suppose that never changes.

it's okay to totally change your life if it's gonna make ya happy

I was in the process of coming out, in fact, still am
life is worth living.............learned that one tonight
i love being gay,i love cock, i love anal, and the body contact and kissing
life is going good.
it has taught me that's it's okay to be who u r.

it has taught me that i am not alone
and it's okay to be gay in the open.
and so much more

the guys here are top notch, the cream of the crop.

thanks.............

Of the many things JUB has taught me, the stand-out thing too often is that we are all equal, but that some of us are more equal than others.

I've discovered what 'sounding' is - and I thought I'd seen it all until yesterday when a new video about a bloke anally giving birth to twins was posted!!! Yikes!!!

I was surprised (and disappointed) when I found out how much bitterness the gay community seems to have towards bisexuals.

My 'gay card' is virtually circular from having so many corners cut off of it - in fact I'm close to being 'straight'!

Americans seem to be more fanatical about politics than I thought they were!

As a moderator I'm amused that the most people accused of being sock-puppets by members - AREN'T!!! #-o

I've also learnt that compared to many countries, baing a gay man in the UK is not a bad deal.

So the socks belong to different feet huh? lol.

Different People too!

Although in my case, I'm no longer Corny's sock puppet - I'm just a machine, so I guess that makes me a 'dongle'... ;)

Must be fun when you guys find a new sock.

Mod Towers becomes a riot! LOL

Although we double check that we have it's rightful owner before we return it to them! ;) Sometimes the owner keeps it, and sometimes they discard it if its too dirty...

We find a lot of socks every day, so sometimes it takes a while to match the owner to them - but we will...

And my guess is that some people have had many socks. Socks that they even chatted with. Socks that acted like loved ones etc. Oh those socks can be such pesky little things.

Like Saturday night trade, they flirt with you, pick you up, wine you, dine you, use you, abuse you, and then cast you aside with ne'er a look back!!!

Ooops, pardon that descent into the 'Valley of Bitterbitch'.

I need to somewhat re-cant my statement from earlier in the thread. '

I wasn't in a particularly good mood when I answered it, and came off as somewhat bitter.....

I'd like to try to give you a better answer now...

JUB has taught me that nobody has to go through the gay experience alone. There is plenty of support, and plenty of people around here to tell you to "GET REAL" when the drama in life starts.

When I joined JUB, I was in a great relationship. When it soured, the support I received here was welcomed and empowering. I didn't mope around and feel sorry for myself. I carried on, and moved on...

I have friends here that, if not for this site, I wouldn't have ever crossed paths with in life. I am thankful for them each day.

I wish JUB had been there when I was eighteen, having a relationship with my first love, and desparately afraid of what my parents would think if they knew that Vince and I were lovers.

But JUB has been a part of my life since the late 1990s (when it was linkmeallover.ca), and then in December 2003, when I officially joined. :D
