I feel like a lot of gay guys are very trendy with things that are stereotypical masculine features like beards, body hair, etc.
For example, body hair is like glorified in gay porn. Everytime I see a photo spread of a model who is smooth or shaved, I see a bunch of complains. I also notice a lot of beards, handlebar mustaches, etc. are very popular with the "bear community".
I sort of feel like it's an overcompensation for being gay. Ie. "society views gay as effeminate so non feminine features used to break the illusion."
It doesn't really work that way though because masculinity and femininity aren't defined by the way you look.
Just my two cents.
