What is new on the Gay Marriage front?

On Monday, ten years ago, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court issued its opinion in Goodridge v. Department of Public Health.

Thus, we celebrate 10 years of marriage equality in the United States.

While Massachusetts is credited with the first court victory over marriage equality, in fact Hawaii came first in 1996, and then Alaska in 1998. Both of course were unfortunately preempted by constitutional amendments.

Cheney sisters feud over gay marriage

http://news.yahoo.com/liz-mary-dick-cheney-gay-marriage-dispute-135437171.html

"Liz has been a guest in our home, has spent time and shared holidays with our children, and when Mary and I got married in 2012 — she didn't hesitate to tell us how happy she was for us," Poe wrote. "To have her now say she doesn't support our right to marry is offensive to say the least."
A Cheney? Offensive? I've never heard of such a thing!

Can't we just get along?

^ Hilarious.

Hopefully sis drop kicks Liz right in the cunt for being one.

It will be worse when Liz loses. She has been sliding in the polls since Summer and has no chance against an established incumbent such as Enzi. When the dust settles, there will just be ill feelings at family gatherings. As far as I know, Liz is the only one in the immediate family with anti-gay views.

This is my impression, also.

Both Dick and Lynne Cheney support gay marriage, as does Mary, of course. Liz is the only holdout.

Liz has no chance of winning this election. NPR said tonight that Mary and Liz aren't speaking to each other. Liz is destroying her family relationships in an attempt to appeal to Wyoming Republicans, to no good end.

Why is it that "family values" candidates are so predictably anti-family?

That stupid bitch go to the sister's wedding to another women offering her full support then reverses course during a campaign???

If ANY voter cannot see the shallow depth of her honesty with family and still would trust that person, then they deserve whatever fifth level of hell they are led into.

She didn't reverse course. She opposed gay marriage while attending one. Same story with Tony Abbott who has a gay sister.

Seriously you can't make this stuff up.

They don't trust her; that's why her numbers are awful.

The (apparent) inability of voters to see through stuff like this always amazes me.

But then, we're talking about people who insist the world is 6,000 years old, that global climate change is a liberal conspiracy, and that homosexuality is a "lifestyle choice."

Interestingly, Liz insists that it is Mary who is the hypocrite, not her. Liz says that Mary campaigned for GWB, who rabidly opposed gay marriage, even though Mary herself supported it and ultimately married her same sex partner.

Liz does have a point.

Yes she does, but Liz is not necessarily a hypocrite. She may actually believe that.

  • A ruling from New Mexico could come at anytime from now through the next few weeks.
  • Gov. Quinn will sign the Illinois marriage bill into law on Wednesday.
  • Pennsylvania's federal case Whitewood v. Corbett will get a trial date on Friday.

I keep getting tempted to start a thread asking why evolution has left us with such . . . foolishness.
