Yeah, Sotomayor has put a stay on justice in Kansas.

Kansas had requested an emergency stay from SCOTUS because on Friday, the 10th Circuit denied the same request. Sotomayor will probably refer the stay request to the full court, if recent experience is any judge.

It will be interesting to see what they do with it.

It's likely only procedural. Kennedy did the same thing with Idaho and then lifted the stay the very next day.

Now I'm getting a bit confused as to whether stays will be issued for any remaining pro-equality circuit decisions until after SCOTUS rules on the 6th?

There really is no reason. The 6th Circuit has about as much influence in Kansas, South Carolina, and Montana as water on rocks. That is, unless I misunderstood your question.

Of course it's procedural. It's also illogical.

SCOTUS refused to hear appeals from the 10th Circuit, presumably because they were satisfied with the 10th's ruling. Now, they stay the 10th's ruling. So they can lift the stay tomorrow and tell us that they're still satisfied with the 10th's ruling?

Welcome to the club.

SCOTUS seems to be enjoying the confusion, anxiety, and destruction of lives it has wrought with its stupidity on gay marriage.

No, you didn't misunderstand. I had thought perhaps that Kansas, etc. might be "on hold" until the 6th is sorted out. Kind of like a game of musical chairs with the needle lifted.

Essentially yes. Again, it's all procedural.

I get why there was a temp stay but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Nebraska has filed a lawsuit against the ban. We now have lawsuits in all 50 states.

As far as I know, there aren't any in Tennessee or Alabama.

Partial lawsuits yes, but you are right.
There appear to be no lawsuits against in state bans as of yet.
