What is new on the Gay Marriage front?

What about getting Congress to pass ENDA after this is over? Sure, Republicans control it now, but by 2016 I excpet it to be back in the control of the Democrats for another two years again.

ENDA is dead. Most gay groups have pulled support for it because, after the Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby decision, ENDA is kinda pointless.

Far from it. The bill was pulled because the religious exemptions became too broad. The new version in the House has much narrower exemptions. It stands virtually no chance of passing of course but to call it dead is not accurate.

Well it is dead until the Dems can take back Congress.

I agree with you 100 percent, except I'm not sure if it's worth the financing to try and get every state legislature to approve of gay marriage, something which probably won't happen for at least another generation. Sad to say, but Democrats aren't going to take control of COngress until 2021 at least. That is when the districts can be redrawn again.

^^ The Michigan cert is the big enchilada to my mind. The district court's diligence vs. the 6th's civics lesson

Indeed. Mary Banouto has signed onto the case so it's clearly attracting some big names. I hope Olsen/Boise and Roberta Kaplan get involved as well.

I opine that our chances will be much increased with the higher voter turn out that we always see in Presidential election years.

^^^I just hope we're able to get positive rulings out of Missouri, Arkansas, and Florida before everything gets put on hold, although the state courts are less likely to do so I suppose.

Going by what this article says, the Democrats could possibly retake both the Senate and the House in 2016:

http://blog.chron.com/goplifer/2014/11/the-missing-story-of-the-2014-election/

That is a seriously biased article with some very flawed analysis.

All future presidential elections will be decided in the Dem primary? Any Dem can win 257 electoral votes without even trying? Just nonsense.

I do think the Dems are favored to take back the Senate in 2016 since the GOP will have a a lot more states to defend, however the odds are that they will hold the House.

Excitement is building in Mississippi where a federal judge is likely to rule soon. A crush to the county offices would be a first for a state in the Deep South, seeing as South Carolina is still on hold.

Legal experts: Gay marriage victory likely in Miss

It seems as though most clerks have come to terms with the inevitable. Even the Deep South is more accepting of same sex marriage now than the country was of interracial marriage in the 1970s.

Miss. circuit clerks prepare for gay marriage ruling

I do as well. I don't see them dragging their feets on this unlike some other places would.

Michigan AG Bill Schuette has said "the sooner...the better" so I expect a reply in a week or two.

The remaining question is: will SCOTUS wait until all states have replied or take Michigan's case separately?
