  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What is your favorite flower?

I can't remember. I used to grow them a few years back, I had this little box of different ones... it was beautiful. Then I went on holiday, it didn't get watered, and it all died. :( Ah well. I got over it rather swiftly.

The single campest thing I ever did in my life. I didn't even realise it was camp, at the time. I just thought it was fun, and beautiful to look at.

The Rose

My mom's name was Rosa and I would sent her a dozen(always red) every year on her birthday and also on Valentines day.

sow many beautiful pictures here! i was especially impressed by those australian flowers ozguy posted, really nice!
i absolutely adore flowers, i don't think there's one i don't like..
if i had to pick, my current favourite would be the white Chrysanthemum,
i often cut of the flower heads and have them floating in a bowl of water, makes them look a bit like lotus flowers ^.-

I live in Portland, the Rose City, and I love roses, especially the fragrant ones.

But my favorite flowers are daffodils. And after that probably iris....

love the tropicals
every year during the family retreat to kauai, I go out and gather the following
for a big ol arrangement for the patio table
(forgive spelling please)

halconia (they look like giant lobster claws
flame ginger blooms
birds of paradise
some orchids (btw- they are named after testicles)
antheriums (the boy flowers ;) )
some mokihana sprigs
and some passionfruit flowers if I can find them

to me roses are a bit overrated....

I have many favorite flowers, but there are four that I plant in my garden every year:

Zinnias

I forgot the Amorphophallus titanum, as long as my BF the plant guy does not have sex with it... (google "Amorphophallus titanum" and you'll see why I say that)

Many Thanks to Ned Nickerson ^...
Zinnias are one of the most beautiful flowers to look at. I always plant them.

But for scent, well nothing beats the spring hyacinth.... They are a small flower but so fragant.
And though a lilac is not really considered a flower (it is a bush that has a flower), it has one of the most beautiful scents on earth.

Daffodils. I think they have some elegance, some humor and their color is always so cheerful. It's a great blend of characteristics all in one flower. And the tiny ones? Kill me now, they're so cute!

They're my fav too.

Maybe because of the vibrant yellow, my favorite color.

Oh for smell, I have recently discovered daphne, which is blooming all over town now.

NineOfClubs must be missing Spring. :luv:

Truth be told, me too!

I'm seriously considering planting some Wisteria this year.

I was waiting to build a really cool arbor or trellis to grow them on, but I have more than enough trees to give them support.

And if I could imagine Heaven having a scent, Heaven to me would smell like Wisteria. :D
