As far as the stuff my parents considered weird, the first I recall them being a bit put off by was the Art of Noise. Not so weird these days, but 1983 was a different time.
I go through cycles where I listen to different things. I was sort of in a 70s/80s funk phase, which has now led me into post-disco and post-punk, and especially the weird sort of areas where the two intertwined. It was an odd time. Disco had died a sudden death, and it was like nobody knew what to play at the clubs anymore. So there was a lot of tentative steps this way and that way, and plenty of dead ends...most of which deserved to be dead ends. But I'm intrigued by the dead ends all the same.
Hhmmm like Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, or Pet Shop Boys then, maybe?
To tell you the truth, I expected more of the spectrum of, maybe, industrial music
Szymanowski is Debussy's twin!
I actually consider Ravel to be Debussy's evil twin, so maybe now a triplet?
