What one Oscar nominated movie do you want to see between now and the Oscars?

^
Thanks, Pat! This is such a beautiful, romantic scene, particularly the passage after Buddy Rogers kisses Richard Arlen and Arlen strokes the back of his head. Should also be posted on the favorite gay movie thread.

Wings. It won the Best Picture Oscar. It's pretty dull but has some good flight footage.

Lex

I like to harass the British and say that what Welsh book's film adaptation won 'Best Picture' at the Oscars?
Answer: How Green is Your Valley. The film is "notorious" because it beat Citizen Kane. Good for pub trivia.

The Welsh do more than bugger sheep it seems.

I've seen about 70% of all these movies. I really want Dallas Buyers Club to win, but American Hustle is a close second. I really enjoyed those movies more than The Wolf of Wall Street, shit I really want my 3 hours of my life back but it was funny movie. No doubt if Leo doesn't get an Oscar then I'm going to just laugh cause he always tries so hard yet never wins.

I hope 12 years a slave wins for best picture. I have seen most of these movies. I didn't see Gravity or Captain Phillips. I hope Matthew McConaughey wins for Dallas Buyers Club. I think Jared Leto is going to win and he deserves it. This year I think they have some really good movies, better than most years. I didn't care for Her that much. It was a strange movie.

I think 12 years a slave was a very well done movie. Very hard to watch. August Osage county was good with great performances by Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. I also thought Philomena was an excellent movie. American Hustle was also a great movie. I liked Wolf of Wall Street with excellent performances by Leonardo Dicaprio and Jonah Hill. Nebraska was a great movie. Bruce Dern did an excellent job in that as well as June Squib who had some really funny scenes in the movie.

2 great movies that didn't get nominated for anything were The Butler and Fruitvale Station. Both true stories and very well done movies. I think Forrest Whitaker and Oprah were both great in the Butler. Michael B. Jordan was excellent in Fruitvale Station.

Blue Jasmine was a great movie and I think Cate Blanchett will win for best actress and deserves it for her performance as well.
Lupita Nyang'o deserves to win for 12 years a slave. What a powerful performance she gave in the movie.
Of course there could be some surprise wins Sunday night at the Oscars. We will have to see.

The only two left that interest me are Her and Nebraska, which which I will get round to at some point. I hope Dallas Buyers Club and 12 Years split the big awards between them as they were the best films I have seen, although Philips and Gravity were enjoyable. I did not really see what was so great about American Hustle and I really hated Wolf of Wall Street, so here's to hoping they don't get anywhere.
August: Osage County had one of the worst trailers I have seen for a while and I never want to go near it! At some point I will also probably watch Philomena and Blue Jasmin, but only if I am really bored.

Where were all the gays at the Oscars?

I was expecting a few cool guys accepting Oscars last night to thank their husbands and boyfriends, as in recent years. Nada. Despite Ellen hosting the show, there wasn't much reference to gay marriage or other subjects relevant to our community, other than Jared Leto and several others acknowledging those living with AIDS/HIV.

Re: Where were all the gays at the Oscars?

They were all in the bathroom, looking for someone called "Charlie".......:p

Or in their respective closets. :)
Of course J Travolta was out with his beard ;)
As was K Stacy ;)

Re: Where were all the gays at the Oscars?

show seemed gay enough for me---Travolta should try to get cock off his mind for a few minutes and find the time to pronounce a name--unbelievable that he couldn't rehearse one line.

Re: Where were all the gays at the Oscars?

Were any gays nominated for an Oscar? Did any gays present? Is is needed that all gays talk about is being gay, or that all people talk about when winning is gay marriage?

Re: Where were all the gays at the Oscars?

MoK beat me to it. I thought the fight for equality meant not having to bring it up all the time.

In the entertainment industry, being gay isn't that huge of a barrier anymore. Plus I think they're past using it as a platform.
Same with being black IMHO although there is still a lot of progress to be made for all minorities.

Re: Where were all the gays at the Oscars?

There are Oscars?

Re: Where were all the gays at the Oscars?

The Oscars are always gay.

Re: Where were all the gays at the Oscars?

The shows producers are gay. I googled their names. They are both gay

Re: Where were all the gays at the Oscars?
