Disturbing case lately. 13 yr old son of a couple who are my tenants (which also makes the little douchebag my tenant) got convicted for rape of a little 6 yr old girl. And now I just heard another little girl independent of the other one just came forward. The little douchebag has an ankle monitor on under house arrest is awaiting sentencing.

When I was 13, I was worried about riding my bike, playing games, and other little kids stuff. Not once did raping anyone came to mind. Like, not even a little bit.

I mean, I remember playing with my dick a lot. But again, never once did it occur to me to do anything to anyone else.

My instinct is telling me to evict those mofos. He was already on probation for setting someone's flag on fire. I can't even...

The little turd needs to be sent to juvie. No more probation.

Unfortunately these things happen in this world. My ex's brother's 9 year old stepson, who certainly didn't need any more problems and misfortune in his life, was forcibly raped by a 13 year old boy. I don't know what happened to the boy, whether he was ever charged or incarcerated for the incident.

There is nothing magical about 13, 15, 17, or 21. Age is not as important as we have made it in law.

Maturity is relevant depending on context.

In the modern era, we've over-pychologized mental illness and cognitive abilies to the detriment of both society and justice.

If a teen is capable of rape and knowing it's rape, as all but the most febrile humans are, then there shouldn't be some tiered justice system where juveniles are treated like hatchlings and shielded from public exposure and given tabular rasa upon reaching a legal majority. A convicted rapist or murderer is a felon, period. Publish their faces, their convictions, and prevent them from having anonymity. They may or may not outlive their criminality, but the crime is against society, and society has the right to know the identities of the criminals who are convicted.

As for 13-year-olds being cruel, I'd say that is not just possible, but common, and for the majority, they become more cruel in a crowd with onlookers to boost their esteem as powerful.

Our SCOTUS made a mistake when it removed rape from the capital crimes. If you knowingly violate a human to that degree, be the victim adult, female, male, or child, that should be a capital offense. You don't get a warning period, a second bite at the apple. Society has no interest in reforming you.

I was watching a crime show recently, and the killer who cut his girlfriend's throat, the mother of his child, and then cut her up and flushed her organs down the sewer, pulled her teeth out of her decapitated head so it could not be identified, and dismembered her utterly, he was convicted of "voluntary manslaughter" and given only 12-25 years of prison. He was only in his 20's. What kind of nation are we that we think that isn't meriting of execution? At the very least, life in solitary?

As a footnote, "douchebag" isn't an epithet used for psychotics, dictators, serial killers, torturers, or other miscreants guilty of high crimes. It's an epithet used to slur people who are just crappy humans, like litterers, Karens, deadbeats who dodge child-support, or similar low behaviors. Hitler wouldn't be a douchebag. For the record, Timothy Allen Bradford was not paroled, but served his maximum sentence, 25 years, and was released in 2023, with no monitoring. He literally skinned another human and cut her up and is now walking the streets, still under 50 years old.

Perhps the greatest problem is that the families of so many psychopaths miss all the signs or are in deep denial...because what parent wants to say 'my kid is likely a psycohpath'?

Some of the worst of them grow up to become world leaders or CEO's. Many become sexual predators driven by impulses they have no control over...because of that lack of empathy. And desire for control, power and pleasure.

As we are reminded every day...the monsters are often inside the house.

Unfortunately, humans do not have to be shown how to steal. It comes naturally, and always has. We have no lock on it, either. Eagles do it. Apes do it. All sorts of creatures steal.

We have so much shoplifting for the simple reason it is tolerated, and there are even apologists now for it, blaming inequality and poverty.

Yet we don't have people starving. We have people not working, yet stealing electronics, expensive shoes, and all manner of luxury goods. Apples? Not so much.

Shoplifting is a symptom of moral corruption.

Be that as it may, it doesn't cover the vast majority of crimes that youth commit, not children, youth, which are fueled by a culture of violence, of avarice, and parental abandonment. They have little, by way of material goods, and too often, by way of moral guidance. It makes it all to easy to equivocate away law and respect and hard work.

Once the individual starts down the path of theft, violence, false esteem through bling, drugs, sexual conquests, etc., the odds of him or her leaving that for a work-a-day job and slowly building income and stability greatly diminishes.

Though some do turn it all around, the vast majority do not, and a book full of excuses for them won't change the reality that their ciminality is based on corrupt morals. It's true of the crooks on Wall St. and in DC, and it's true of the thugs robbing the corner convenience store. Same corruption, different strata..
