What the....? Kill Gay Parents?

Some of you are being short sighted and hypocritical

One 'tea bagger' could say the wrong thing or hold the wrong sign or wave the wrong flag and you were all up in arms and would broad brush the whole movement. Now it is "so what"

The pic does not show any evidence of Photoshopping to me, and I use PS for a living.

It's a poorly thought out sign from some dumb guy. It almost certainly doesn't mean what it says literally. I'm sure the guy never killed his parents, and doesn't really want anyone else to do so.

The problem with our instant, internet-driven news cycle is that single, silly individuals are suddenly seized upon for a day's outrage, until tomorrow's new outrage can be found.

It's no different to the treatment given to some Teabaggers by liberals in past months. It's tit for tat, really. You can't jump with glee on some poor conservative because he can't spell, then not expect conservatives to do the same thing back at you.

We'd all do much better to stop worrying about fluff and look at the big pictures, not the small ones. There are real issues which deserve scrutiny and discussion. This type of schoolyard journalism is hurting us all.

The sign highlights the problem with ALL liberal activism: lack of a targeted message. There's too many peripheral causes at OWS demonstrations. They need to focus their message, otherwise it all becomes a blur.

Someone may have come up and put the sign in his hand. He is so involved with the boy holding him he may not have even looked at the sign.

Yup, gay liberals, this guy is not a "plant" -- He is one of your own. He & his boyfriend are telling gay kids to MURDER their own parents, if they don't accept their homosexuality.

The gay liberals have shown their true colors.

And it ain't pretty.

Every group of people has it's crazies. Nothing new to see here. It doesn't really matter if they're conservative, liberal, or anything in between. Ignorant people who do things like this make all of us look bad as Americans. Opportunistic people are on the lookout and waiting to post things like this on the web in a moments notice. It's the information age, people. It's best not to get so worked up about it IMO.

At least JQ got a hard-on from this thread. Doesn't surprise me either, really. No matter what side you're on, typical just doesn't look good on anyone.

I still don't even see anything all that objectionable with the sign, frankly.

Maybe it's in bad taste, but I don't think anyone is legitimately advocating patricide. I'd rather see queer youth be angry and defiant than self-loathing or suicidal.

A quick image search shows that the picture originated here

Today (October 5th, 2011), I took a trip to see the “Occupy Wall Street” protests and ran into this sign on the steps of the Federal Courthouse in downtown Manhattan.

Posted by one "Spyridon Mitsotakis" with his profile

stating

Spyridon Mitsotakis is a History student at NYU and conservatism's infiltration agent at their radical Tamiment Library, which houses the archives of all things left from SDS to CPUSA. He is also a frequent caller into the Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, and local New York talk shows. He is a research assistant to Professor Paul Kengor.

The picture is at http://bigpeace.com/files/2011/10/1005111718.jpg

Open this up in any image processing software and have a play around with the saturation levels and you'll find that the pink placard message is an unnatural addition to the pic.

Only completely stupid idiots would be fooled by this stunt from the greek sounding Rush Limbaugh caller.

His nom de plum may point to this article.

http://nyunews.com/2008/11/05/22/

In his room at Broome Street residence hall, NYU sophomore Ryan Mits holds a signed photograph of John McCain and Sarah Palin that was sent to him by the campaign. 'To Spyridon Mitsotakis' reads the letter, which is addressed to Mits' legal name. 'Thank you for your support.'

Mits is surprisingly composed.

'I'm proud that I was part of this campaign,' Mits says. 'It's hard to put into words - he's such an honorable man, a politician that I've respected more than any other politician in my life.'

There's idiots everywhere both from the TEA Party and Occupy Movement, these critters (doesn't deserve respect to even be called kids) obviously have parental issues when it came to being gay....

maybe their parents are just a bunch of hate filled collection of organs and flesh hiding behind religious text to justify their hate for their son(s).

Sad that these critters in the pic, if it's true they made the signs, didn't take the high road though. Instead just stooping to their parent's level of hate.

^ I doubt that they made the sign. It looks like a photo taken by someone and then shopped to make the gays look bad. Funny, isn't it? A right wing McCain-Palin nutter would post such a thing so innocently.

All this proves is that some people's parents should have been killed BEFORE they had sex......

I don't believe I've seen you this excited over gloating over a false lie since a straight, married man blew his load into your mouth.

If we would have made such a big thing out of every "kill obama" sign, we probably would have had to close the forum down

Any way .. I could even understand if after all the teen suicides because of their fears to their parents reactions, someone thinks it's a "clever" thing to write such a sign.

I only had a short time to evaluate this and wanted to get it up here for discussion before I left for work this morning. I don't have an opinion I was trying to make, the title of the thread pretty much reflects my thoughts "WTF is this?"

Looking at it again I might be Photoshopped and if that is the case then I will be greatly relieved.

I guess if I had anything to comment it would be surely there are not folks out there that feel this way? I can sort of understand where the idea comes from but it is something that shouldn't even grace the thought processes for more than a few moments, IMHO.

The other thing that comes to mind is the comment observed before, it is quickly understood to be a lone individual and not reflective of the larger group and yet if this were a tea party rally how quickly would the left jump on such a lone example to bash the whole? That is about my two cents on it.

Quoted for truth.

I've got to say once again that I think that everyone is quite tired of the over the top, divisive and accusatory language in Jayqueer's posts. Every time I read one it feels like I'm getting verbally gay-bashed by the RNC and Focus on the Family.

We get it.

He hates liberals and particularly liberal gays.

A symptom of our hyper-polarized politics, you see it from many liberals too they are just less in your face about it, or its more obvious when posting on message board that leans the opposite direction. The other side can't just have a different opinion, they HAVE to be wrong and deliberately so. It is essential to reduce them to evil intent so that you can readily dismiss them and wrap yourself in your (false) moral and intellectual superiority to them.

Of course this is a formula for being just as wrong and misguided at they are and ensuring that nothing can get done in a world where compromise and debate are essential tools in accomplishing anything major.

sarcasm <on>

This thread has convinced me that the Occupy Wall Street protesters are all wrong. Those two homosexual men with that sign are exactly what ALL the protesters are like; murderous, lazy, filthy bums who will drag the poor millionaires and billionaires out of their well deserves homes and kill them. They're only after other people's money. It's their own fault they don't have a job.

Yes, we need to start a thread every time we see a sign like that.

Right now I'm looking for a photo of a protester blowing his nose into a dirty tissue. Or maybe of a female protester with a tattoo. I'm going to start a thread about that to discredit them.

sarcasm <off>
