No ma'am.

I'ma need her to stop bitching and put those powder blue daisy dukes away.

They also though they were going to live forever, and learn how to fly (high). So I can't fault them for their bizarre fashion choices - they were obviously hitting the coke a bit hard.

I also hope that's NOT the "hood" guy.

I forgot how freakish we looked.

I remember tight levil's, Nike shoes, and polo shirts.

All of it looked ridiculous. However it was a soothing antidote to the stupid hipster douchiness of the 1970's fashion. The 1970s in fashion was just the 50's with shaggy hair and bad beards.

Sound familiar?

My prediction is the 80s will be back again by 2016

Also, they thought people would see them and die.
Sadly, I had no such luck.

Current fashion is usually something "current" plus whatever was hip twenty years ago. Which means we're due for the "grunge throwback" era.

I thought people would see them and cry "FAME!". Maybe I misheard the lyrics.

I want L.A. Gear back.

Maybe I just needed to get my ears cleaned back in the eighties.

I did cry "Fame" repeatedly throughout my life, but it was mostly out of exasperation about yet another rerun during a boring television evening.

"Fame" was one of those American shows that bizarrely really didn't do all that well in America. I could look it up, but I believe it ran on NBC for two seasons, and then in syndication for a number of years after that. It never did well in the ratings here, and it wasn't for many years that I understood it was somewhat of a phenomenon in Europe. When Graham Norton did his show in New York a few years ago, he tried to get a bunch of New Yorkers to recreate the opening montage out on the streets...and found that most of them didn't know what the hell he was talking about. :)

We're seeing it; it's grunge mixed with a nerdier look from the 50s.

50s, 70s, 90s, 10s.

All shite fashion, spaced 20 years apart. Though the 90s did okay. It had less of a defined look and makes the schedule break down a bit. Or maybe I'm still too close to it to judge.

But by 2016 the leading edge will be fed up with it and start reincarnating the 40s, 60s & 80s.

Though the 90s did okay.

the neon 90's would like a word with you.
I wonder who thought it was a good idea to wear skiing gear everywhere.

The themes in Fame may have been pretty ordinary in the US, but in the countries of Western Europe of the mid-eighties the concept of working hard to achieve your dream on your own -especially when you were from a so-called 'disadvantaged' social class- was considered outrageous.

Well, I only JUST remember watching that show when I was like 6 or 7, but apart from the theme music, I don't have any other memories of it.

I associate the decade more with other shows I watched - Dallas, Dynasty, The A-Team, Knight Rider, etc.

And all the popular boys at school (age 11-12) wore denim jackets, long hair, and listened to heavy metal.

I myself relented with denim clothes and my hair, but I could never stand listening to that type of music. [-X

If I'm not mistaken the guy pictured above, who had one of the lead roles in Fame, died a few years ago from AIDS. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I could swear I read that somewhere.

Oddly, in Colorado, that was very 80s. Not so much 90s.

Makes sense. Can you explain "Baywatch"?
