Well, I only JUST remember watching that show when I was like 6 or 7, but apart from the theme music, I don't have any other memories of it.
I associate the decade more with other shows I watched - Dallas, Dynasty, The A-Team, Knight Rider, etc.
And all the popular boys at school (age 11-12) wore denim jackets, long hair, and listened to heavy metal.
I myself relented with denim clothes and my hair, but I could never stand listening to that type of music.

>>>The themes in Fame may have been pretty ordinary in the US, but in the countries of Western Europe of the mid-eighties the concept of working hard to achieve your dream on your own -especially when you were from a so-called 'disadvantaged' social class- was considered outrageous.
Makes sense. Can you explain "Baywatch"?

The 80's ARE back in the stores this fall.
I forgot how freakish we looked.
I remember tight levil's, Nike shoes, and polo shirts.
I had my hair spiked (which was a bit controversial @ the University of Alabama in the early 1980s). I went for a more punk/new wave look. I had a mohawk at one point. Usually wore pegged black pants, band tee shirts, and clunky black shoes.

They were the trouble makers.

so, I'm watching the 1982 "Fame" tv series... there's an entire plotline about how this one male dancer thinks that tights are a little too girlie to wear.
can someone explain to me wtf was going on in the 80's where tights are too gay for a "tough guy from the hood" but this is perfectly acceptable?
