What's a good gift for someone with a new kitten?

@IllGetBi

Good thing that you actually thought to ask from the forum, as a dog lover you might have ended gifting the kitty these

And if the guy ditches you then you can always resort to this

And since you are a dog owner, might tell you that kitties are way too strong for dogs.

And there is 5% chance that the kitty ends up like this

Another kitten for company.

^ Would it be a bad move if I surprised her with a 2nd one?

Don't do that, cats are very protective about their Territory, kittens though don't mess up with each other, but chances are they might end up fighting with each other. Beside its really a bad move to gift a "RESPONSIBILITY" to anyone.

Cats really love melon, haha left a half eaten slice of melon on the table once and my cat ate the whole thing it was the weirdest thing i've ever seen. Even ate the skin and stuff.

Also they love scratching posts, pretend mice, anything stringy/dangly, shiny, anything catnip infused.

Also they love tuna, and skips.

They hate vegetables, and empty crisp packets, and hoovers, and being sprayed with aerosols/

a gift certificate from the vet for sterilization

Perfectly said. That's the best gift one could give, even if you cant afford all of it, you can still make a partial gift when he takes it to the vet for it's shots and stuff. And then maybe a little toy.

Best gift for my family's cats was a brown paper grocery store bag. It was their favorite toy/hiding spot/sleeping bed/everything.

Thought of something else.. a cardboard box will keep the cat entertained for probably the rest of its life. Plus some newspaper and the cat will rip it up and make a little birds nest and sit there like a chicken or soemthing. so cute

Our cat loves empty boxes, preferably deep but not wide, so it can dive in and charge out at random. It also loves little fuzzy pipe cleaners.

The toy mouse infused with catnip we bought for her was ignored for years; now she can't get enough of it. And she loves bouncy balls, those little rubber ones which really bounce if you throw them hard. The key, though, is to bounce it about the height of the cat's head past it - ours would chase those for hours.

You know what, this catnip think is producing weird results when I google it, cats can get addict to the smell of catnip. Here are some stories.

Don't stop with one box -- get four or five, glue them together, cut holes between. I had a cat once who loved boxes, and I got bored one day and started hooking them together with duct tape and cutting windows, connecting doorways, trap doors, vertical passageways, balconies.... I ended up with a four-floor "cat castle" with boxes sticking out all over.

Something else I discovered that some cats love is those URL=http://www.spiralpaper.com/products/concrete-forms/index.php]round cardboard forms for concrete [/URL]. Get several and make passages through the cat castle.

A wonderful addition to a cat castle is one of those mice that squeak when hit; hang it outside a window and watch the cat whack it for hours.

There are lots more there, too.

My last thought is something not all cats go for: a bigger version of the hollow ball made for little rodent pets to run around in. The only trouble I've had with one was a cat who went berserk when she wanted out and had to wait.
