What's happening in England

GB knows it isn't going to win.

When some countries choose their entry, it is intended to just troll the competitors and to get lots of buzz.

Like this one will.

After leaving the EU, England is desperate not to be ignored and so this entry looks like another 'Fuck You' moment thatwill get lots of eyeballs.

Which is probably why he felt emboldened to do it

He's done the taxpayer a favour. Huntley had a minimum of 16 years still to serve, probably more. Google tells me that the average cost of keeping someone in prison is £53,801 per annum. That's at least £860,816 which we can now hand over to "asylum seekers".

An assisted dying bill has just failed to pass in a final vote in the Scottish parliament. A similar bill for England is currently held up in the House of Lords and could well run out of time before prorogation. I'm wondering whether the Scottish decision is likely to affect the outcome south of the border.

I would have thought that Scotland didn't need an assisted dying bill given the number of deep fried Mars bars they consume :ROFLMAO:

BBC News

Teenage boy at centre of Scott Mills sexual offences investigation was under 16, police say

But it was 20 years ago and the police dropped the case.

The hearing of the case brought against Associated Newspapers by Prince Harry and other celebs has concluded in the High Court. The judge, Mr Justice Nicklin, now has to reach and write up his decision. That could take some time. If the Ginger Whinger loses, it could cost him millions.

An interesting read:

From what I have read a lot of the specifics he used were explained away. Rather than needing to hack his phones apparently all journalists had to do was cosy up to his friends.
Funny how he is happy to stick the knife in to his nearest and dearest but can't contemplate having the same done to him

Unrest at London Pride where its Chief Executive, Christopher Joell-Deshields, has been sacked for allegedly misappropriating £7,000 ($9,240) in gift vouchers.

What particularly surprises me about the story is that Joell-Deshields was reportedly paid an annual salary of £87,500 ($115,493). Call me naive, but I always thought that Pride was a quasi charitable event and that the people who organised it, if not volunteers, were paid little more than expenses. I'm astonished that he was paid so much.

London Pride has been losing contact with its purpose for years. Now it is a tourist attraction with saturation advertising where the 'gay' part is nothing more than a merchandising opportunity. Close the whole thing down and start again. If that means losing one years event that might not be so bad. One year, was it 1998?, funding collapsed and there was to be no official pride but everybody turned up and did it anyway with zero budget. That was great fun. We can do that again.

I am unaware of the specifics of London Pride but other Prides I have worked with over the years have always been charities to enable them to claim back VAT

Could it be that Gay Pride has served its purpose in London?
