  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

What's happening in England

It is a money pit that we do not need in a country that has still yet to recover from the induced poverty of the Osborne years. Sell it, somebody can make a hotel or a casino out of the fucking relic. Members of Parliament have a job of work to do, they can do it in the sort of surroundings that the people who pay their wages have to work in. Nylon carpet squares, plastic chairs, bare striplights. If its good enough for a call centre.
And no bars, in most jobs you get sacked for drinking at work but MPs can get cut price booze on site.
A taste of normality would do them good.

For that matter, most of it could likely be done over ZOOM or Teams from the constituency office with standardized black cutain behind the talking/sleeping heads.

Sadiq Khan has proved to be a very good mayor for London despite the racism he has had to overcome.
Zohran Mamdani can do the same for New York. I just hope he can stay alive, something which is a lot easier to do in London.

Khan has been an awful mayor with his anti-car measures and blatant blind eye turning to Muslim grooming gangs

Poor air quality in cities has been killing people. It is fair that when car users contribute to the worsening of air quality, they should be also contributing to the costs of improving air quality. The health gains from air that is fit to breathe benefit everyone, car addicts included. Everyone has to die of something, lung disease is one of the least pleasant ways to croak. Fewer people will die that way when more politicians can be as strong as Sadiq Khan in resisting vested interests.

Grimshaw apparently had a way of helping people validate their own prejudices on JUB...Trump and his MAGAts also now speak their minds and often reflect Grimshaw's view of the world.

In fact also in Britain, his views are now increasingly popular so I imagine he just ran out of things to comment on that would make his trolling unique.

I always found the fact that he went on line to spread his toxic perpectives under the name of a professor (here and on other sites years ago) who I suspect failed him in her course, rather pathetic.

Yeah, I just saw that on the lunchtime news. I was surprised that he originally denied the charges, so his guilty plea seems pretty inevitable.
I suspect that, during sentencing mitigation, he pleads mental health issues
