...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON MDT FRIDAY...
* TIMING...Snowfall moderate to heavy at times...is expected to
continue through the evening and then decrease overnight. Light
to occasional moderate snow is expected to linger through Friday
morning.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...Total snowfall of 2 to 6 inches likely,
with 8 to 12 inches near the foothills and possibly near 15
inches on the Palmer Divide and over the Cheyenne Ridge.
Additional snow accumulation late tonight and Friday morning is
expected to be light.
* WIND/VISIBILITY...Visibility could fall below a quarter mile
in heavy snow.
* IMPACTS...Wet snow accumulating on leafed out trees may break
tree limbs and cause power outages. Roads will be slushy and
slick at times. The worst conditions are expected at higher
elevations near the foothills, over the Palmer Divide, and
across the Cheyenne Ridge.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel very low and hazardous. If you
must travel...keep an extra flashlight... food...and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
