Sunny and 41° F, almost no wind. Sidewalks in the shade are still icy.
I wish it would snow, but the rain and sleet that was in the forecast isn't showing for the next ten days any longer, just more 27°-28° nights and low-40s days, with occasionak clouds.

When I took Knox for a walk about 2:30 it was wonderful in the sunshine but bitterly cold in the shade. It's supposed to hit 27° F tonight, so I'm digging out an extra blanket!

Barely above freezing.
I hate this pattern of getting cold but never snowing; I'll take snow over rain almost any day in winter, especially when it gets windy.

The good news, though, is February is supposed to be a copy of January, and March won't be much better --- people have plenty of time to get used to it.
And, all the emissions from all the fossil fuels people will have to buy and burn to keep warm might be enough to reboot global warming.

The weather people say we're having "snow showers".
Well, as I look outside it's two degrees below freezing, the wind is whipping things around at 50mph, there is indeed white stuff blowing with a somewhat downward vector, but every now and then there's a sound of lashing rain and the ice on my windows gets a bit thicker, so I'm calling this a mix of snow showers and ice storm.
And the ground temperature is just right that the ice and snow on the sidewalk don't provide any grip but are slicker than extra-virgin cooking oil on a ballroom dance floor.

I'd prefer the 16° F of the Indiana winters I used to love to the 30° F at present because the Indiana cold came with humidity in the low double digits while here it comes in the upper double digits. 30° F here with a 25mph wind feels worse than the cold when we had a -40° skating party and the humidity barely made it into double digits!

We’ve been having repeated bands of ice over the last couple weeks. We had one last night left the parking lot at work a sheet of ice. We had a guy fall and break his ankle. Took 5 firefighters to pick him up and put him on the cart

In SE mich. we were supposed to get 4-5 inches of snow last night. I was all set to get my noisy, smoke belching snowblower out this morning and found a pitiful 2-3 instead. I shoveled by hand.
