What's Your Weather Like?

There was a storm passing through the north today, mainly affecting Scotland. We had showers this morning, but it has been dry and warm since about 2 pm.

Ditto
I have friends in Scotland and they have said it wasn't quite as bad as forecast

Yesterday it was 99F for a high. Today it is now 103F and that is suppose to be the high. My central (forced) air conditioning has not been keeping up the last two years in my home with a basement. The basement is too chilly year around for this old man. Last week I had the hvac air compressor professionally serviced and they said it was running and chilling as expected (20 degree's colder air output than the air going into the return air vent).

I home is 50 years old and I know it could use some extra insulation in the attic. I can live with the heat on the main floor since my "man cave" is in the basement. But any occasional guests find that 81F is to hot for them since they are half my age.

Salem is pretty much shutdown. It is coming down snow and ice. I don't know when I might be able to get out again.

I normally keep my temp inside at 70 degrees, but it is so cold I have it at 75 and I am thinking of turning it up again. Maybe I will drink some hot tea or hot chocolate.
I live in the Tampa Bay area Florida, and it’s coming down here as well. I’m sure not as badly as it is in your area, but it is a very hard thunderstorm.

Its been hot (highs in the 90's) and dry - no rain or anything for days. .lol. Atleast the humidity has been respectable on those hot days - less than 20%, and may have even got down below 10%.

^I lived in Tampa for 17 years, and they have ferocious thunderstorms in the summer. There were several times that I had to wait in the office, or at the front of the supermarket, etc., because of frequent sharp lightning strikes and torrential rain. I'd have no choice but to wait until the storms eased up enough to get to my car.

There were times when leaving work where I had to wait before leaving due to heavy rain or hail on a thunderstorm. Lightning on the other hand wouldn't stop me from going outside...infact if there's lightning & its not raining, I'll go out to watch and video it (especially at night).

As for weather today: High in the 80's & partly-cloudy. Quite pleasant actually.

It depends on what the lightning is doing. In Florida we have frequent cloud-to-ground lightning strikes. In fact, most weather-related deaths in the state are due to lightning strikes. There was a professor killed by lightning crossing a parking lot on the campus of a university two blocks from where I lived at the time. You don't want to be out when that is happening. On the other hand, I've seen spectacular lightning displays like what you're describing. In that case, all the lightning is within the clouds, and there is no cloud-to-ground lightning strikes going on.

Right now there is no lightning going on, but it is a hot, sultry, steamy night. Temp is 84 degrees F 29 degrees C, humidity 77%, dew point 76 F 24 C, heat index 93 F 34 C. 50% chance of rain, Forecast high is 92 degrees F, 33 degrees C, heat index 105 degrees F 41 degrees C.

As long as its not raining I'll sit out & watch (sometimes video)...and have sat out - on porches, ground, even roofs - watching storms with both cloud-to-ground & in-cloud lightning. I don't fear it (infact I love it), but ofcourse in any case I'm not the highest point.
Now that said, sadly we get very few storms, and vast majority of those are fairly weak & short-lived. But even if its a good/strong one, I'll still go out watch if I can - until it starts raining (then move inside to a window). .lol.
Like I say I don't fear it & its a love of storms/lightning (& I might be crazy too .lol. ) ... really just the one part of thunderstorms I do fear is hail. I've seen a few nasty hailstorms in my time (and those are something you even back away from the window).

---------------------
As far as the weather here today: 'warm & dry': didn't look at the temperature, but forecast high was 87 (which was probably pretty close). No rain or clouds, humidity was likely the normal less than 20%.

72 and rainy here in Fagstaff. It's supposed to get into the mid-80s the next few days.

Today beat out yesterday. . lol.
High of 95 & humidity dropped down to 9%, sunny in the morning / partly cloudy in the afternoon.
(also smelled like wildfire smoke in the morning)
