It's been snowing all day and is now what Winnie the Pooh would call 'blustery'. It's supposed to warm up and turn to rain, but it's still 2 below zero and hasn't changed for the past few hours.

I was awakened at 2:11 AM (I checked the clock) by a wind which shook the entire my building, including my bed, and the sound of the rain slamming into the windows. It rather had me on edge. After that, I lay awake for quite some time because of the howling of the wind through the leafless trees. If you've never heard that sound...

I have posted it before, but a day or two after 9/11 I was woken by really loud and close by thunder and lightning. I thought we were being bombed. At the time I lived right next to the HQ of the Oregon National Guard and there was a report that if anyone was going to attack the US West Coast states they would have to take out each state's National Guard.

It amazes me how scary weather can be.

As I said yesterday, it snowed all day, but went up to just over freezing after sunset and turned to rain. It rained most of the night, but when it stopped, the temperature dropped below freezing again and everything that was wet from melted snow turned to ice. Even younger people are walking very gingerly and carefully on the sidewalks this morning.

I won't be going anywhere.
