It has been breezy but bright today, yesterday was sunny and calm.
We've a number of orchid plants we've had growing over the years. By October last year, all of the flowers had gone, and we've been patiently waiting. This week, our first bloom opened. It feels like Spring has arrived. In fact all our orchids will probably bloom this year, a couple haven't flowered for several years, so I feel especially happy it's finally happening, after such a long wait.

He have a ceramic heater and used it for about an hour until the repairman showed up. He had to replace a vent fan that went belly-up last night. All is toasty and warm again.
Funnily enough, we had to go to our friend's apartment nest door to get our heater back. Their furnace broke down in January when it was frigidly cold.

It was really windy today. It was rubbish collection today and they had picked up most of the regular rubbish before it became too windy, but the recyclables were still not picked up. Ours blew across the street and we replaced them and then they blew into the yard next door. We put then in place and then some of them blew well into our yard and the rubbish men left them there instead of coming into the yard to get them. Well I guess they'll be out next week. The temperature was warm, in the low and middle fifties Fahrenheit, which is pretty warm for this time of the year.

Went outside to check my mail at about 2am. It is about 53 degrees out right now. Feels nice.

Below freezing and going even lower today with major windchills. Environment Canada has issued a cold weather alert for the area so towns and cities can get the homeless into warm shelters overnight.
