With Pfizer, most people I've talked to said the arm soreness started pretty soon after the injection. For those who had flu-like symptoms, fatigue really set in late in the evening and into the next morning. It was typical gone with in a day. Most just napped or slept through it.OK, I got my second Pfizer shot this morning. So far I haven't had any symptoms, but it's probably still too early to tell.
So far, the non-return rate has been about 8%. The non-return for the second shingles vax is about 26%.I noticed that there were far fewer people at the vaccination tent than when I went three weeks ago. I guess that sort of confirms that there is a drop-off of people coming in, far fewer than we need for herd immunity. C'mon, it's free government health care!
They're emphasizing it because 8 percent of 209 million people is a lot of people. But 8% is a lot better than many of us expected.
They are looking at cutting back on the mass vaccination sites. You'll probably see more people getting their shots at their doctors offices, pharmacies or in some cases, at a "pop-up clinic" that will be in workplace cafeterias, churches or neighborhood community centers, or possibly a mobile van. It's going to look more like blood drives or blood pressure check community events.Perhaps the CDC should look into hiring blow-dart hunters. But instead of poison darts, they would hit people like the anti-vaxxers and MAGA hat types with the vaccine.
