Does it bother you if you hear guys use the word? I posted a thread asking about this in a straight forum and the general consensus was yes they use it but they don't use it towards gay people. They use it as a way to insult someone acting annoying, similar to the word "douchebag".
Also, someone posted this:
To me, the word always felt like something that had a lot of force and hate to it. The last time I remember saying it was about 4 years ago when I was ready to fight a guy and my temper exploded. I ended up just kicking his door instead and after I cooled off, apologized.
Kind of surprised at how many people in the thread I posted state they use it in their everyday lives and everyone around them does. One even said he uses it at work and the gay guys he works with don't care.
