Let me guess, available housing is unaffordable at that salary?

Depends where you want to live I suppose. I can't imagine you'd be able to rent much for less than £500 per month here in Birmingham. If £380 per week equates to say £1,600 per month, you'd have maybe £800 to £900 left after rent and Income Tax.

Just for shits and giggles I went on a bit of a job search in my old trade as a machinist. Nothing has changes as far as the attitude of the employers. You best know your shit and never be late and don't expect a lot of money. These guys start a machine shop and become little dictators. They screw people over in any way that they can. Many are second generation owners that never worked outside of the family business and think that they are so superior to those who punch a time clock.

Hey. I mean...who wouldn't want to work at White Castle?

As I had noted, the pandemic led to a lot of Boomers finally saying fuck it. I see it it all over the place here. From the fast food chains where the olds have had a part time job to the teachers and nurses who continued to work.

The pandemic pushed more than 3 million baby boomers into premature retirement, according to a new analysis from Miguel Faria e Castro, a senior economist at the St. Louis Fed.

Now if only I could chuck it all too.

School bus drivers too. We have a school district here that had to go to at-home learning for a short time because they couldn’t get the kid to school

Lets just watch it play out

Yesterday I got something in the mail about my student loan payments resuming in January. You may recall that the Feds were promising student loan forgiveness, or at least $50,000 worth. Remember that much has been made of student loan debt preventing young adults from establishing themselves financially, and getting their lives on track. Apparently the pols have reneged on that.

I've only got 1-2 years of payments left, so I'll go ahead and pay just to get rid of it. But I'm thinking a lot of people are going to refuse to resume payments. We'll have to see how it plays out, especially those who owe $50-100 grand or more.
